Nervous before every appointment

Anyone else get nervous before every appointment? We have our first OB appointment tomorrow since being released from our RE. I will be 9+1. I have had minimal to no symptoms at times and get afraid that I'm not going to see the HB. I can't wait to have a bump so I have some proof every thing is OK

Re: Nervous before every appointment

  • Everytime! I'm by no means high risk but can't help but worry about whether or not my baby is ok and healthy. I think we may as well get used to it as I imagine this is what being a mom feels like.

  • I feel the same way. I actually think seeing my RE kind of contributed to it. I had weekly ultrasounds until I was 10w6d and I would get so anxious and nervous before each one. The first time we saw the heartbeat I was so nervous I was shaking and I really don't even remember the appointment! I have minimal symptoms too. We've had 7 ultrasounds so far and I have my NT scan on Thursday and I still get nervous for each appointment! Hang in there, everything will be OK :)

  • I have one today and I feel ya. Worried that this was all a dream and they'll find nothing in there.
  • It makes me want to get a home Doppler but that may add a whole new level of anxiety
  • I have a home Doppler and haven't had much luck and it did increase my anxiety. So much so that I snuck back in last week for one last ultrasound with my RE. I haven't tried the Doppler since.

  • Always.  I've had 2 appointments already and my third one is tomorrow.  I've been nervous for every one of them.

  • Not really. I do have some nervous energy on appointment days that just comes across as me being a little hyper and then I do get momentary butterflies in my stomach as I'm getting onto the u/s table. Aside from that, I've mostly been able to block the negative thoughts this time around.

  • YES!! I am always nervous.  I have my first ob appointment tomorrow since being released from my RE at 9w6d.  However since my last ultrasound at the RE I have had two bleeding episodes so I was there the day after my last ultrasound at 8w5d and this morning.  Everything looks ok but this bleeding makes me so nervous.  I also have very minimal symptoms which worries me too but I try to remember back when I was naive and pregnant with my son and I had very few symtpoms then too. Since him we have had a miscarriage though which makes me so scared and nervous.  I also have thought about getting a home doppler but am worried if I can't find a heartbeat how much I will freak out so I havne't decided yet.  Good luck!

  • Yep, I am always nervous.  I was nervous with my first pregnancy, and with every other one.  It's stressful.

  • Yup, always nervous. It subsides slightly when I can feel movement regularly, but still gets bad before the later major appointments (A/S).
  • I'm not nervous or anxious or anything. And I feel like I should be at least a little.
  • I think it is totally normal.  I was nervous for all my appointments with my first, even after I could feel him move.

  • I always get nervous going to the doctor cause I just don't love doctors and people touching me.  I suppose it will get more normal as this process goes on...

  • Every pregnancy before this one (3 losses and DD) I'd practically Ha e anxiety attacks until we heard/saw the heartbeat. This time I bought a Doppler to use at home, and it has really helped my PGAL brain calm the F down.

Yeah I don't know why I expect the worst (the Internet?) but at my last appointment when I heard the heartbeat I was like "huh, didn't expect that."
I have no reason to be acting like this, either.
  • I reeeeallly though I could play it cool this time. That it wouldn't freak me out the way it did the first time.

Bad news guys: It doesn't get much better, and now I know what things are like, so I can have a really solid mental image to freak myself out with.

  • I'm good between appts, but get so nervous the day or two before. I just start thinking that if something has happened and I don't know, then I'll find out at the appt.  Total PGAL side affect.

  • Hate to break it to you, but having a bump never made me feel any better. Any time I felt less movement I would freak out. A major drawback to the bump is that you're exposed to a lot more horror stories and bad endings than in your day to day life. :(

And the worrying never stops once they get here. My two year old has nearly given me a heart attack twice today.

This! I know she loves the park but I feel like I'm going to pass out by the end of it from all the scares my 2 yo gives me.

  • Well to add to my anxiety for my appointment today I started spotting. I know it is most likely irritation from the crinone but I still don't like it. I had a pretty good bleeding episode last week after I peed out a chunk of leftover crinone. Got into the doc the same day and everything was good. Only 1 more week on this medicine!
  • Sorry this is TMI but I get the shits before every appointment because I get so nervous...and this is my third baby. :disappointed:
  • Hahah omg this. I get this too.

  • I have actually been bribing the baby. I have told it twice already that if it behaves for the ultrasound, I will buy it a cake pop :-)
  • I'm trying flattery on our baby - I tell it what a great job it's doing at growing etc. I will gladly bet bribery as well.

Yes nervous every time too. I have my 3rd scan tomorrow (first 6+4, second 8+4 and tomorrow 10+1) and because I've heard literally no symptoms I work myself up into a state of worry! I hope that further along I won't be feeling like this!
  • Well no scan or Doppler yesterday because I already got an early scan at my RE. I will get a Doppler in 3 weeks once I am 12w. I won't get an actual ultrasound until 20w. All I need bus to hear a HB and I feel better for about a week
