HR above 140 = girl?

My family keeps telling me a HR above 140 at the 8 week U/S = a girl, and below 140 = a boy. Has anyone found this to be true? My peanut had a HR of 174 and I'm so hoping for a boy!

Ha def an old wive's tale. My mom swears by it (even though she was wrong with the sex of my first), but claims she always heard this is true starting in the 7 th month. Who knows. 50/50 shot either way.

you can still hope for your boy. Baby's heart rate have been 150 and above since week 7 and we are definitely team blue.

HR was 180 at 8w5d. I'll let you know if it holds true in about seven months. But I'm not painting everything pink.

Ha my ultrasound tech told us this wives tale... Our beans heartbeat was140 , so no guessing anyway!

I know my first child's heart beat was 150 at some point (but I can't swear that was at the 8 wk apt could have been later) and he is a boy. :-)

Their heart rates also fluctuate throughout your pregnancy. I think early on their heart rates are much higher than they will be further on in your pregnancy.

Ours have been high, last U.S. (10weeks) Our twins heart rates were 176 & 180. & I just found out that at least one of the babies is a boy! So I have to say it's a 50/50 chance of the theory being correct

Our heart rate at the 8w and 10w were both above 180. Just found out I'm having boy... So Yea, read into it if you want to, but don't be disappointed if you're wrong.

I don't know...I only have girls, but they are always over 140. Not sure that means anything.

My LO has always been 165-180 and we just found that we are having a boy! Sooo....nope! Not true!

My LO was about 175 and I'm having a boy. I'm also all about the sweets and I have really bad acne. Wives tales were all wrong for me.

I didn't have an appointment right at 8 weeks but the one right before (7) and the one right after (9) both had heartbeats higher than 150 BPM and we're having a girl. It's an old wives tale and I don't believe in it, but it held true in my case.
