DH has a horrible diet. He eats minimal breakfast, usually skips lunch, and then will have a regular dinner and a later night snack (that is usually unhealthy). He has committed to eating a more balanced and structured diet but also is interested in starting some supplements in the light of us having two losses. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a male vitamin regimen (I know there's a ton of recommendations for fertility purposes) that gets you the best bang for the buck. I know this probably had little to no bearing on us having losses but we are just looking to live healthier lifestyles and do everything in our power to set ourselves up for the best chance of success.

I give him his multi-vitamin daily with one of my own doses (I take pills 3x day) and I have to 'remind' him about the Cold-eze regularly. It's actually a point of frustration. (He can't remember to do something twice a week? I have made all kinds of accommodations, sacrifices, and changes... but he feels put out by having to take something that tastes bad twice a week? Puh-leeze.) /end rant.

@fivetimesnoluck I literally laughed out loud at your post because that's how I probably will have to be with my husband. I have found it helpful to gently remind him of all the physical crap I've been through...taking a bad tasting vitamin will be nothing in comparison.
Every Sunday I get out our vitamins for the week and put them in those little pill sorters. I give him zinc, folic acid, c, d, and b12. He usually remembers to take them about twice a week. So he gets in trouble every Sunday when I realize how many days he's missed! He eats pretty healthy and is fairly active but I really want him taking folic acid since it is really important for men too.
He wouldn't take them without nudging, so ever week I put them all in a weekly pill dispenser and then I can check if they are empty and he's been taking them.

@fivetimesnoluck totally agree about how much we're each doing. I am now encouraging my husband to go to acupuncture, which he is open to. I know that none of these things are guaranteed ways to get a take home baby, but we have so little control over the process, these little things that give the illusion of helping make me feel better. And he gets that now.

and male reproductive health. I told DH that my doc said he has to cut back on the booze, improve his diet and take supplements even though my doc said nothing at all about that. DH is a smoker and it has caused it's fair share of marital and pre-martial discord. Vitamin C at a higher dose was recommended for fathers to be who smoke.
Like a few people here, we got pregnant super-fast (2nd Month of trying) but our muffin stopped growing. Hopefully this time...
I quit smoking (finally!) last July. I had no trouble quitting when we were initially TTC, but picked it up again after the succession of losses. DH and I made a deal that we would quit together.... guess who is still smoking? Ugh. In February, I reminded him of our deal and that he has not held up his end of the bargain. After that, he cut back significantly, but he hasn't stopped completely. It has caused some resentment, because like the having to remind him to take his vitamins... why do I have to work so hard to "force" you to make the incremental changes when I have flipped my whole world upside down in hopes of accomplishing our goal. So frustrating.

I'm a former smoker and I will be celebrating my 10 year anniversary in December. I swear it gets easier but every once in awhile, I get an insane craving for a cigarette out of no where.
Some friends of mine had recommended to give Maca (a natural root) to the H, I have purchased, not yet tried though....

I don't think there is any of the promising research with maca root like there might be for acupuncture, but these things are hard to find solid studies regarding anyway. Maca is supposed to be an adaptogen - when consumed it should help your body balance its hormones. I wanted to take it because I lost my libido after my loss entirely and it is supposed to help get your motor running. My first cycle after loss was totally wonky (to the surprise of no one), so I thought I'd try it out. I was already in the TWW when we bought it, so DH started it first. He thought he felt a little more energy. I think I do, too, but we both accept that could be absolutely anything. The ginseng is a traditional Chinese fertility medicine, which I don't put much stock into, but it's in the bottle we bought and no one seemed to be concerned about that. This is only my second cycle taking it (third after loss) but I ovulated super early on the first one and am gearing up to again, as far as I can tell. It shortened the length to closer to what it used to be (I had my period start every single time on the full moon for YEARS) Again, that could just be post loss weirdness. I'm only taking it for two months before taking a month off, and DH has already stopped.
I'm a really cautious person and ordinarily I wouldn't take what seems to be such a shot in the dark, but when I started my prenatal (iirc you mentioned it's the one you take, Rainbow Light) I noticed that my periods became less painful and lighter. Searching for answers, after about a year, I looked at all the ingredients on the label and started researching them. It seems red raspberry leaf is supposed to do just that, so I took a leap here, too. TTC has made me a little desperate for patterns where there might not be any, but no ill effects so I'm willing to press forward.
/end essay
Hope that's helpful but it's probably just a hazy, sinusitis-fueled mess.

If the maca and ginseng seem to be working for you and DH then why not? I know my husband was having some libido problems and performance anxiety so he started taking panax ginseng and it seems to have worked really well for him. It could be a coincidence but he hasn't noticed any side effects and seems happy with the results. I didn't realize that there were potential benefits for women also. Since we already have it in the house I may try it out and see how I feel about it. I may also have to test out maca. Ya know, for science.
I'm glad that things are better for you and your DH whether it's the maca/ginseng or whatever else.
