Vaccinations-Record not updated by hospital

Just an FYI regarding the vaccines.
DH and I decided to use the CDC schedule and split LO's vaccined.  LO would get his 2 months vaccines during his 2 and 3 month visits.  His 4 months vaccines during his 4 and 5 month visits, etc.

Yesterday, LO was supposed to get only the pneumococcal disease vaccine.  The nurse mentioned that he needed to get hepatitis b.  I said, no, he got a dosis at the hospital and another one at 3 months.  The next one should be at 7 months.  She kept on mentioning it (even had the syringe ready) and after seeing that I was getting pissed, she said that if we wanted to, she was not going to give it to him, that she would do whatever we decide.  We requested to see the list of the vaccines that he got at the hospital...and there it was.  LO did get it at the hospital.
If we didn't say anything, she would have given LO an additional dose.  I told her that I want his records to be updated immediately.  We know that she was going by what the computer said.  The good thing is that we have a print out of the CDC vaccination schedule and I write down the date LO got each vaccine.  I also look it up before each appointment and know which one he should be getting next.
I also ask the nurse to let me see each vile before they put it on the syringe.  This time, she had brought the syringe ready and already had tossed the vile.
Just checked the CDC website and getting an additional dose of hep b is not harmful...but still, what if it would have been another vaccine?

  • Thatbis frustrating, i understand why you are upset. For what it is worth though, getting second dose of any vaccine is perfectly safe

  • This is why it's good to be educated on the well and sick care your lo, yourself, or anyone in your family receives. Sadly in the US a lot of mistakes are made so we need to be our own advocates and advocates for our dependents.
