How do you pronounce Cormac? My brain tells me it should be "cor-mac", but I say "cor-mic" every dang time. Is it just me? If "cor-mic" is a common pronunciation could you still use the nickname Mac?
In Ireland, it would depend on regional dialect. In my dialect, it's pronounced 'Cor-muck', in others it's closer to the Mac pronunciation but it wouldn't really be fully 'mac' for anyone. It's hard to describe the difference in pronunciations in a different language though. For example the 'cor' part would rhyme with for with a long o sound in the middle whereas I've heard some English speakers pronounce it closer to corr.
I knew a Cormac and it was pronounced with the Mack sound. It was his surname though... having a hard time remembering his first name, most of the people I knew in high school went by their last name or nn.
