Lab Test Results

My doctor called me at 1:30 today saying to call them back for the results of my lab tests. I'm 12w5d, they didn't have me call them the last time they did blood work at 6 weeks. Turns out triage won't call you until Monday if you call after 2:30 because they close at 3. I'm kind of freaking out because I don't know why they would call unless something was wrong. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it normal for them to start calling you with your results instead of waiting until your next appointment?

If it's routine blood work, my guess is that it's something to do with your iron levels. A lot of women become anemic and need iron supplements during pregnancy. If this is the case, a few days wait shouldn't be problematic.

Honestly, if it was something super important that couldn't wait until Monday, I would think they would have tried to call a second time. Do your best to not stress and make sure you remember to call first thing Monday to see what's up!

Why were you having the blood work done?

I assumed it was a routine blood draw they do at 12 weeks, they didn't actually say what they were looking for.

I would be surprised if it were my iron levels, I've had issues with anemia in the past so I'm taking an extra iron supplement every other day along with my prenatal. You're probably right, if it were really serious I would hope they'd make more of an effort to get in touch with me.
