Trouble TTC

Ovulation Signs- w/ Meds & Without

I'm wondering if you all have reliable ovulation signs... And also if these changed if you did a medicated cycle. Typically I get horrible breast tenderness most months right around O time. The last 2 months on clomid- nothing at all. It's making me have crazy thoughts wondering if I could possibly not be ovulating despite clomid, u/s and a trigger?

Re: Ovulation Signs- w/ Meds & Without

  • I had the opposite. I finally had super clear O signs on my first round of Clomid. Too bad I still got a BFN.

  • The only times I've ever had signs of O have been when I've had meds and a trigger shot for my IUIs.  I could feel it with severe cramping, even had difficulty standing up.  I've always had regular cycles but could never feel O like I could when I was on meds.  My RE said it was because of the multiple follicles I produced.

@lablover78 Are you being monitored while on Clomid?  Taking Clomid can be pretty dangerous without regular monitoring (ultrasound + blood work) to make sure everything is okay.  You would also know if you were ovulating then.

  • Yes- I am with an RE now and they do multiple u/s before telling me when to trigger...then they test the progesterone. It just seems strange to me not feeling a thing :/

  • I've never had O pains, even on medicated cycles. I believe it's only about 20% of women that actually have O pains, so feeling nothing is normal and not something to worry about.
  • @lablover78 I know this is an older post, but I just posted about the same thing! I used to have really tender beats/nipples after a positive opk. However, my last two clomid cycles, nothing!

  • @marissy8 I asked my RE's NP if the it was possible I didn't O even with the trigger and she said it would be really rare but I just find it hard to believe that my body would act so different.  Fx that things are working as they should for us both!

  • I typically don't have any O symptoms at all, and I think I still Oed with the trigger shot! Hoping that you still are ovulating, and maybe the meds are just changing that!

  • I'm not on meds and generally have some cramping and a little bloat for about 24 hours around my O. My GYN told me that very few women have symptoms around their O and if I don't, or don't have them regularly, not to worry - it's normal.

  • TMI WARNING******  I don't ovulate naturally.  On my first round of Clomid I had EWCM two days before ovulation.  During sex two days before ovulation it was very painful which I had never experienced before.  I had watery CM the day before and the day of O.  The day after O CM turned creamy.  The day before and the day of O I had some mild cramping in my lower abdomen on my right side.  Since I don't ovulate naturally I was concerned about the painful sex.  I googled it and many women experience painful sex around ovulation time, of course, painful intercourse can be a myriad of other things but combined with my other symptoms I concluded I was getting ready to O.  Also the only OPK I turned positive was the morning before O.

  • Yes I might ovulate on my own sometimes but that's never been proven for sure and if I do it's definitely not every month b/c I go months w/out turning a +OPK. However the only time I saw ewcm was my 2nd round of clomid. Like, oh that's what they're talking about ;)
