I will be 39 weeks on Wednesday & my right leg, foot, & ankle is substantially more swollen than my left which is also somewhat swollen. It doesn't hurt and is not red or anything. Does this seem normal? I see my doctor for my weekly appt on Thursday. Is there any reason to call them about it before then?
My doctor said this might be a sign you may have a blood clot. You have an increased chance for them during pregnancy. I would definitely call your doctor.
Most of what I've read about blood clots, though, said the leg would be reddish and would hurt. It's just swollen. They are closed now so I'll ice it tonight and see if that helps and if not I'll give them a call in the morning. Thank you!
It was not a concern for my dr. I went in twice for this issue. Dr told me to cut my sodium intakes which didn't help. My left leg got so bad that at 39+3 my entire legs welled past my knee. Again Dr not worried. I went into labor two days later.
Alrighty! Thank you! She's not been worried about my swelling so far but it's the first time I've seen one more swollen than the other. Hopefully that means my labor is close! Fingers crossed
My leg was swollen, just my left leg/foot, with my clot. It wasn't red or painful, either. I just had increased charley horses. It wasn't until after she was born (previous baby) that it became painful, but still wasn't red and the dr didn't think I had a clot even at that point because all my blood work came back normal. He sent me for an u/s only because my sister had a clot during her pregnancy and there it was. I think they're more common in the left leg than right, not sure if that helps anything.
Thanks for the answers, ladies, and no the baby seems to hang out on both sides. I may just call my doctor in the morning to see if she wants me to come in before Thursday. It's very swollen today but mostly in my foot and ankle
Well I had an ultrasound of my legs yesterday and no clot but still VERY swollen and hurting me a lot now. Hoping my doctor will take pity on me tomorrow at my actual appt and we can discuss inducing soon. I only saw an ultrasound tech yesterday and she didn't give me much advice on it.
Hang in there, girl. I've had the EXACT problem and my doctor hasn't found a reason to induce since my BP is normal and no protein in the urine. It will be over soon!
Re: One leg more swollen than the other...39 weeks
Thank you!
