Elastic in Baby Clothing

I'm a 3rd time mom and thought I had baby clothing figured out as to what I prefer.  So, I bought dd a bunch of cute stuff for this spring/summer at carter's.  I LOVED the rompers and shorts I got for my boys and bought it and didn't even have a second thought.  She's had a few outfits on since the weather has warmed up and the elastic leaves lines when she wears some of the rompers and shorts.  She is 19 lbs 3 oz and so she's just heading into 12 months size, so I figure they should fit her fine, but they don't work well for her chubby legs. Anyone have a fix for tight elastic??  I hate for her not to wear them, they are perfect otherwise, but I won't do so unless I can fix them.

    Depending on how the elastic is done, you can probably open the seam a little bit and let it out. Otherwise there are probably side seams running down each leg and the inner seam can be taken out if there are two which there almost always is.
