hi everyone, just looking for comfort, advice or just venting. According to my lmp I should be 8 weeks but 1st sonogram measures
@5. My doc (which I plan to switch) was not sympathetic at all. I understand what the outcome can be. However, I also know there could be a good ending. We took a blood test & my levels are 33,000 which doc thinks is an advanced pregnancy. I questioned if I was actually 8 weeks- maybe I ovulated later. Though I understand 3 weeks is a bigger gap to be incorrect- but a possibility! I am getting a 2nd opinion as my doc said after next sonogram she wants to schedule d&c if no change in growth.
Re: 8 weeks (according to lmp) but sonogram measures 5 weeks
1) Do you normally have a regular 28 day cycle? If not you can't assume you ovulated on CD 14 which is what is assumed when basing your due date off of LMP.
2) When did you get your BFP? The absolute earliest you can get a BFP is 9 DPO (and that would be a very faint positive). That being said some people wont see their first BFP until 14 DPO, so there is wiggle room there as well. You can assume that you are technically 2 weeks pregnant at the time you ovulated, so depending on when you got you BFP you would be anywhere from 2 +9 to 4 weeks pregnant, maybe even further along if you weren't looking for it and didn't test until later.
I dont know enough about HCG to know what to expect with 33,000 but try not to worry too much until you have another scan. The scan is really the only way t o know at this point since it will measure growth between now and then. I hope you can get your answers soon!
Fingers crossed!
1)my cycle is generally 26-28 from what I know.
2) bfp: March 23 ( last day I could get my period as per tracker)
I have had a miscarriage before, and I know the wait is excruciating. I have also had a happy growing baby a week after seeing a difficult ultrasound. It is normal for doctors to use one week as the time frame to know if things are progressing. But if you aren't comfortable with a D&C, it's likely there is no reason to have one, especially not right away. With my miscarriage I felt more comfortable waiting, and eventually my body miscarried on it's own. I would find a doctor you are comfortable with, and make sure you let them know what you want.
