Hair loss

Is anyone else still losing lots of hair? I'm 5.5 weeks and it hasn't really slowed down yet. It's making me nervous because I have fairly thin hair to begin with and lost a TON postpartum with my last. When does it usually stop during pregnancy? I thought it was right away...

    I tend to lose a ton of hair postpartum, but this is the first pregnancy that I remember losing hair during pregnancy.  I lost some last week, but so far none this week, thankfully.  Hope that your hair loss ends soon.

    Hmmmm.  I guess I'm lucky this is only a postpartum thing for me.  My hair normally grows like a weed and gets thick thanks to the prenatals.  Hoping yours starts going the other direction soon!

    I've never seen increased hair loss during pregnancy. PP is a completely different monster however.

    I never lost hair last pregnancy or pp. I hope it stops before you thin out any more.

    Thank you everyone. I haven't seen it increase (thankfully!!) But it just hasn't stopped yet. I'm losing the same amount every day that I did pre-pregnancy. I only began taking prenatals recently though (was taking folic acid only for several months prior) So are prenatals what typically causes it to stop falling out? Or random luck?

    So while pregnant, some people's hair stops falling out usually toward 2nd tri. Postpartum, hairmageddon often happens after 3-4 months

    Oh! That's later than I expected it to stop thanks for the link!! "Hairmageddon" love it! Lol mine was between 3-6 months pp. Just awful!

    Could just be hormonal but I would have your doctor check your thyroid.  This happened to me and my TSH was high.  Elevated TSH can put you at increased risk of miscarriage so if thyroid is the issue you will want it treated ASAP.

    I am seven weeks today and the first few weeks of pregnancy I was losing more hair than normal but it is slowing down now.  It is common for hair to change during pregnancy.
