Car Seat and Strollers

I am hoping someone can help me figure out what I need to do for a stroller that a car seat can click into.......
A family member is giving us a car seat. Does that mean I need to purchase a specific stroller for the car seat or can I buy any stroller and then purchase a car seat adaptor?

    It really depends on brands, but generally speaking if the stroller you buy is not compatible, there should be an adapter you can get. Here are the basics from Lucie's List.

    Also, make sure you check the carseat's expiration date if it is secondhand!!! My friend gave us a graco with 2 bases- and shortly after I found out it was expired. Never in an accident, but it is expired significantly over a few years. California and other certain other states also have laws regarding car seat donations. Most charity orgs won't accept them.

    For DS we got a Peg Perego seat from a friend (never in an accident, used for less than a year only on rare occasions) and we wanted a City Mini GT stroller so we got the adapter.  That carseat expires in January so we traded it in at BRU for a Chicco Keyfit and can use the sama Baby Jogger adaptor kit to use it with our stroller.
