Ovarian Cyst

Hi, new here!

I'm 4w6d and had my first prenatal visit today. Apparently they aren't supposed to schedule me yet (they don't see people until 7 weeks) but since I was there they did an ultrasound, with the warning we probably wouldn't see anything.

Not surprisingly, we couldn't see anything. She mentioned my uterus was nice and think and said she didn't we'd need any blood work done. Then she found a cyst on one of my ovaries. She didn't seem concerned, just said we'd keep an eye on it. But she did decide I needed to do 48 hour blood work.

Abyone have any experience with cysts early on? I guess I'm most nervous because I read they can sometimes cause false positives on pregnancy tests.

Thank!

Re: Ovarian Cyst

  • Very common. I had one with my first. It went away very quickly and never caused a problem.

  • I have one now that is resolving.  It isn't causing me any pain so I am not worried.  Neither is my doctor.

  • Very common! I've had them with both my girls :) they disappeared on their own.
  • Very common. I've had one before, and OB told me when we ovulate, there is often a cyst left behind. If the doc isn't concerned with its size, it will probably resolve on its own.

  • I had one with a previous pregnancy. They usually go away on their own. Only thing I noticed was slight tenderness in the side that the cyst was. That went away when the cyst disappeared. Best of luck!
