I was supposed to have an HSG yesterday, but I was so tense they couldn't do it. The pain was terrible. I spent the whole day crying. My husband has been super sweet, but I am absolutely discouraged. I tried to drastically change my diet, and after months of "eating clean," I'm still not ovulating or having periods on my own. Am I ever going to have a baby? Should I just give up and go about my life? Anybody else down in the dumps with me this weekend?

I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been as down in the dumps as that many times in the past year, it's a brutal journey that seems to go on and on. Don't give up though, science is an awesome thing and it will get you through this. If you're not ovulating on your own they can absolutely treat that. When you're holding your little one it won't matter how you got there.

yes, the testing is invasive and sucks but try to think of each one as steps closer to finding your solution.

Hope the weekend turns around for you, hang in there, it will get better.

I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. I feel down often. I have pcos. I've gone gluten free and sugar free and my cycles still don't happen. I wonder when is it going to be my turn to have a baby? I have a pelvic u/s in two days. An hsg in on the horizon for me too. I guess what helps me is keeping busy. It was really nice weather this past weekend so I did a lot of yard work and some house projects. Maybe the doctor can give you something for anxiety when you re try the hsg???

I had an hsg last month and I was really freaking out about it before hand. I read about how painful it could be so I just *knew* I would have a bad experience. DH helped talk me down a bit, reminding me that it will only last for a couple mins (and it was super quick- maybe 3 mins). I did take ibuprofen about an hour before the procedure and 1 tylenol as soon as I got to the office. Aside from a little discomfort from inserting the catheter, I had no pain at all. If you can find a way to relax, it really isn't terrible.
I also have PCOS, and the only time in my life that I got my cycle almost regularly was when I was in college, not working, and going to the gym for 2 hours every day. If I still had the time for that, I'd be in great shape! However, I'm overweight and the only exercise I get is walking at work. It's really easy for me to get down on myself for not making the best choices. Habits are hard to break. Sometimes the only comfort I have is that tomorrow is a day I can start fresh again.

I know how you feel *hugs* It's been 5 years for me and I am so discouraged. But I keep reminding myself to keep going, because this is worth it to me.

I am so sorry for how you are feeling. Hugs. I hope things are looking up for you a bit as it's been a few days since your post, but even if they are, I know this can be an emotional rollercoaster so the good parts don't last for too long. Have you thought about talking to a counselor? You could check out therapists in your area that have expertise with infertility on https://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/?tr=Hdr_Brand.
