Weekly Bumpie Challenge: Eat more protein and veggies!
Re: weekly health & fitness check-in (4/18)
Fitness goal? Walk 10,000 steps every day. Yoga at the gym tonight and Saturday. Yoga at home 2 nights this week. Get back to free weights!
Health goal? Plan meals and pack lunches.
Challenges you’re facing this week? I don’t think I can use the nausea and exhaustion excuse anymore, I can finally say I am feeling better! However, DH and I ride to work together and he has been working late most days. Some nights we haven’t been getting home until after dark and I just want to eat dinner and go to bed. You guys, I NEED you to get me motivated!
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? I used to flip backwards on a 4” wide piece of wood, looking back that was pretty crazy! But I was young and fearless when I was a gymnast. Otherwise, I feel like I am pretty boring and not too crazy.
Fitness goal? - I really don't want to lose my arm tone, leg tone or butt tone! Want to gain weight in a healthy manner.
Health goal? - Stay healthy and fit up until it's time to deliver.
Challenges you’re facing this week? - My instructors have now started asking me to sit out the abs portions of class during barre and during pilates. I'm starting to wonder whether I should start looking for a pre-natal class somewhere, you know? That's 10-15 mins of class where I'm just sitting there! Then there are other instructors who don't make me modify at all, and if it weren't for my own research, I wouldn't know what to do or I'd probably continue doing it (without knowing dangers). More and more I'm feeling like I should just join a prenatal class, but at the same time I worry it will be too gentle or not much of a workout. Has anyone been to one yet?
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? - Gosh. This is a tough one as I've done many crazy things in my life. LOL. Probably the craziest was leave my ex-husband not because there was anything seriously wrong. I left because I was unhappy. People were calling me crazy and telling me that marriage isn't supposed to be happy 100% of the time. While I know that relationships have ups and downs, I just couldn't see a happy future with my then husband. We did fun things, didn't fight, went on lots of trips, were financially stable, but I wasn't happy. When I started to feel like I wasn't in love with him anymore, I started being proactive. I planned fun dates, did romantic things for him.... but I also started marking down a calendar with "
" for when it was a happy day and a "
" for days I was just not happy. After 6 months, it was 80% sad faces, despite my efforts of date planning and romantic weekends away. So I left. It was the best (and craziest) decision ever.
Fitness goal?
Walk 10,000 steps at work, then use my treadmill at home for 30 minutes, 5 times a week.
Also, starting a butt and leg challenge today, so we will see how that goes.
Health goal?
Stay away from sugar and carbs. I still have waves of MS, and those are the only two things that help.
Challenges you’re facing this week?
Having the energy to stay motivated. My pup had surgery this past weekend, and my DD is ultra crazy lately.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
A few weeks ago, my hubs and I went on a road trip. We went to Zion National Park and hiked Angel's Landing, all the way to the top. (Google or YouTube it). There are parts of the hike where the walkway is only 3 feet wide, and over 1000 feet straight down on both sides. Absolutely insane. I almost cried when I got to the top. It was amazing!
This was at the top, looking over the edge!

Is your pup recovering well? Sorry about DD being extra crazy. I can commiserate. We had SO's girls over the weekend and youngest step daughter (who is 6) suddenly is regressing and has decided she doesn't know how to potty again. Ugh.
I wanna share a pic from one of my favorite parts of the Subway.
Fitness goal? Yoga at home every day during the work week! DH and I were really active outside this weekend doing yard work so I haven't done yoga in a few days. Excited to get back at it.
Health goal? Continue working fresh veggies into dinner, and eating more fruit. DRINKING AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY. That's a hard one for me, but working at it.
Challenges you’re facing this week? Dealing with these contractions. Hopefully the dr will have some answers when I go today. It makes me nervous to be too active, although ironically the contractions happen most when I'm sitting on the couch.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? Probably doing a summer study abroad in London when I was 20. I applied directly to the school where I studied abroad so I didn't go with the a group or anything. It was just me! It was pretty scary flying across the Atlantic all on my own, finding my way around a new city and living on my own. I also travelled to Paris one weekend by myself which was probably even scarier due to the language barrier. But it was the most amazing experience!!
Fitness goal? Work on toning. Cardio is great, but my arms are starting to look a bit flabby.
Health goal? Stop eating so much cheese. It's just so good.
Challenges you’re facing this week? My hips and ankles are starting to get a little sore when I run. I'm going to check out a running store and see if they can recommend something to help - maybe different shoes that take into account the changes in my body. Also, I'm running a 5K this weekend (free doughnut at the end of the race), and I tend to push myself harder than I should during races, so I guess the challenge will be not being upset when my time is worse than I want it to be.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? I am very boring. I don't think I've ever done anything I'd consider crazy. Well, I did run a 15K (my longest race) in March. I was only 2 months pregnant, so probably not that crazy.
Thank you for asking about Kohda

Fitness goal? To finally get back into my work out routine. Back to my personal training sessions tomorrow. Need my motivation back!
Health goal? To only gain the 25 lbs my dr told me I should gain. I lost 5 lbs in so far.
Challenges you’re facing this week? Now that my appetite is back, I've been "treating" myself a little too much, But today starts a new week and I've been getting in my fruits and had a big salad with protein for lunch. Me and the DH will be taking the pup for another long walk tonight since the weather is beautiful. And tomorrow back to the gym... not gonna lie, kinda nervous, it's been over 2 months since I've been. I really hope my hiatus will affect me too bad.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? Went snorkeling out in the Florida Keys and not realizing I had a small shark tailing me as I was trying to back to the boat, all while trying to avoid a school of jelly fish. I didn't win against the jelly fish, but Jaws didn't get me! It was all totally worth it. The Keys are AMAZING to snorkel.
TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year.
BFP 02-15-16 with our first
IT'S A BOY!!!
Health goal? I think control the snacking. Breakfast is usually eggs of some sort, lunch I've been having salad with chicken, dinner is a healthy-ish meal. Snacks are harder. I'm mixing it up with fruit and pb banana protein shakes, but sometimes I crave salty snacks!
Challenges you’re facing this week? Controlling the sweet tooth. Now that I'm feeling 90% better I've been wanting ALL the food. Getting to the gym on time so I can take the classes I want is a challenge just bc I still throw up in the morning, and just getting myself and dd ready and breakfast before class can be a rush. Also feeling a little gun shy on the weights class. It's 60 mins, and I havent' done any strength training in months so I'm worried about my stamina, and I can't exactly just walk out if I get tired. We'll see.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? I'm not really crazy, other than my idiot teens and early 20's, ha. We went to Hawaii this year and hiked to the bottom of a crater that had been an eruption site in the 60's (I think) and is now crusted over. We hiked to the top of some rocky areas that were still steaming from the lava deep below the surface. And we stayed in a hotel that overlooked an active volcano...we could see the glow from the lava lake at night, it was so cool! Snorkeling at night in pitch black water with flashlights on our snorkel to see some huge manta rays was also pretty crazy/awesome. And taking a helicopter over the active flowing lava sights, too. It was a pretty adventurous vacation, I loved it.
Oh. I like this forum! First time poster, FTM
I use to compete in fitness competitions, and have since switched to half marathons, so I'm a little fitness crazy and most people are telling me to relax. But it's such a huge part of me, I don't know what I am without the gym shoes
Fitness goal? Run! I actually have a half marathon in two weeks. (I technically already ran one, without knowing I was preggos). Other than that, I'd like to keep up with my gym routine.
Health goal? Eat real food for dinner. I tend to feel night sickness (between 7-8pm, it's like clockwork), so my goal for healthy dinners usually ends up as soup. I can't wait to enjoy a piece of salmon.
Challenges you’re facing this week? Tiredness and the night sickness. I just entered the second trimester, but I felt better last week than this week. It's nearly 5pm where I am and I am already knowing my plans for an afternoon run and something more than soup are out the window.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? I'm not super crazy ... I did quit my job and work on a yacht in the Bahamas & Caribbean for a few months (granted my fiancé - now the Hubs - was the captain). It was really cool experience.
Fitness goal? Complete 3 strength workouts / 1-2 cardio workouts - I need to get back into my routine. I miss how active I was pre-pregnancy.
Health goal? Drink more water. I bought a fruit infusion water bottle and that has helped a lot today! I currently have strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries in it!
Challenges you’re facing this week? I have pretty significant pelvic girdle pain (not RLP). It makes walking or doing anything pretty uncomfortably painful. I've stopped running because of it, and now I feel like a lazy slob.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? Nothing really comes to mind. I'm a pretty boring person. Although I drove 10 hours to spend the weekend with a really cute boy 3 weeks after we met (he later became my husband!)
Fitness goal? Get some kind of exercise everyday. I'm alternating yoga, barre (I just got a great prenatal barre DVD!), elliptical, and walking the dogs. My goal is to focus on building arm strength ... when I'm not working on it, my natural state is a super weak upper body. We went to look at strollers and car seats, and they even had one of those weighted baby dolls. I'm realizing I need to get a lot stronger to handle all of the the things I'll be carrying as a mama
Health goal? I've been using MFP to help me plan what I'm going to eat throughout the day. I usually go over on calories, but I really just use it so I'm not scrambling to find snacks or decide what to eat at the last minute. Also hoping to do more cooking this week.
Challenges you’re facing this week? Super hungry all of the time! Also, I have a hard time making it to the gym after work if I come home first. I keep meaning to try this prenatal yoga class I have groupon for, but so far I just keep deciding to stay home instead.
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? I'm not a very wild or impulsive person. Probably doing the doors off helicopter ride in Kauai. It was terrifying and amazing (and nauseating) at the same time.
@mrskratt @annabenanna We're going on vacation to Las Vegas in a few weeks and spending at day at Zion national park! I'm so excited, I've heard it's stunning! If I wasn't pregnant, that hike sounds amazing. But after passing out a couple of weeks ago, I'm not taking any chances. Did either of you do any of the easy hikes? How much time did you spend at the park?
It's a boy!

Though the hikes were awesome, one of my favorite parts of Zion was finding quiet places to picnic. I'm gonna PM you my travel blog! I wrote about Zion.
Fitness goal? Now that I am into my second trimester and my first trimester symptoms have hit the road (hopefully forever!) I am feeling pretty good. Before being surprise with my little Reese Cup, I was training for a bodybuilding competition and as soon as I got pregnant, I had NO energy and felt like crap.. So the goal is to go at least 3-4 x a week. Yesterday I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and and hour with my trainer.. and yes I am feeling it. Owwie.
Health goal? Since my BMI was low when I had my first MW appt, my MW expects me to only gain about 20 lbs. I will admit that the first trimester had me eating all things comfort and carbs.. so now that I'm past that, I want to incorporate more protein and fresh veggies/fruits back into my diet daily.
Challenges you’re facing this week? Working full time, wanting to work out every day, and eating healthy. It is so hard to do it all !
GTKY: What is the craziest thing you have ever done? I have a huge fear of water so my 'craziest thing' isn't all the nuts, but for me it was-- In Mexico, we were on a tour of the Mayan Ruins and we were able to jump into a sinkhole/cenote......and I did it!
