Yesterday I had some brown spotting. I did a lot of research and saw that brown spotting isn't "normal" but pretty common in first trimesters. Today, when I woke up, it wasn't brown spotting anymore... I was bleeding. I tried calling my doctor but they are unavailable for the next hour at least. I wish someone would tell me that I'm overreacting, but I'm fairly certain I am having a mc. This is my first pregnancy and I am so lost and scared right now... DH is at work and unable to take a call.

First time pregnancy's have a higher risk of ending in miscarriage. Those same people go on to have completely healthy pregnancy's in the future though.
In the first trimester if you are miscarrying there isn't anything that they can do. So when it happened to me I found solace in knowing that my body could take care of it on its own and that more than likely this was something I could suffer with on my own without others being involved.
I can't tell you whether you are or aren't. I would believe though if you are bleeding and cramping though that it doesn't look good. Just pray and know that things happen for a reason and even though it's heart breaking things will go on and hopefully you can try again

This is a hard topic. I wish I could make you feel better.
Usually your midwife/OB has access to some type of counseling for loss. You could call and ask for the information. Maybe they can help?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I found the miscarriage/loss boards a great comfort after my mc in December, and the TTCAL board is wonderful if/when you feel ready to try again. Please take care of yourself and allow yourself time to grieve.

so sorry for your loss. Two years ago when i miscarried, I had begun bleeding after spotting that morning. When I went to the dr for an u/s the next day, I had stopped bleeding but when they did the u/s only the sac was visible. I had had two other u/s both of which we saw a baby with a flickering heartbeat. I had been measuring behind so knew there was the potential for loss. I chose to do cytotec vs having a d&c...and when i finally passed everything I did see something that I'm pretty sure was the baby. I never confirmed with the dr. But it did give me closure as we buried that something in our flower garden with a little plaque that reads "love blooms here." So most likely you have a lot more of your lining to pass, which is where the baby may be too...so don't feel like you were just seeing something initially. it is very possible to see the baby and then during a mc not see it.
again, so sorry...take your time to grieve...and know you aren't alone!
