In an attempt to get the board a little more active today, let's have a super AW thread! Show off your favorite jewelry, and interpret "favorite" however you like. It can be flashy or sentimental, it just has to be your favorite. Bonus points for a good story behind it!
My favorite piece of jewelry is my engagement ring. DH and I met a little later in life (I was 31, he was 44) and it was literally love at first date. I had never been in a serious relationship before him, and he just totally swept me off my feet. We picked out this ring together after only 7 weeks of dating, and he officially proposed 5 weeks after that. Looking at it brings back all those incredible feelings of our early relationship and the excitement of knowing we had found our match.
okay I lied, but I really just wanted to show off my mani dh told me I couldn't show him rings until he said so, and by the time I realized he was going to propose I also got nervous bc he didn't know what I liked!
he ended up getting me the one ring I saved a pic of, he never went in my phone and no one else even knew. that's how I knew he was perfect for me LOL
Please excuse the fact that this will be huge. This entire outfit is my favorite jewerly. All of the bead work is done by hand. I actually felt SO awesome in this outfit and being able to connect to DH's heritage so much. His family was so excited about it. This was at our wedding celebration. And that's DH also looking awesome though from this angle you can't see all his awesome beadwork.

DH and I had been together for ten years before he finally proposed. We were going to Puerto Rico for our anniversary and our plane had been delayed so when we finally got to our hotel, we were rushing to shower and dress for our big ten year anniversary dinner date. I was putting on make up and he said, "I like your shoes." And I said, "okay...thanks." And kept furiously trying to finish dressing. He said, "No, Roz, I really like them." And I said, "Okay...thank you!" And again, kept looking at the mirror. Finally, he said,"Roz!" To which I turned out and said, "What?!" And of course, he was on one knee. Hahah, not the most romantic story but definitely "us."
Sorry if if the picture is huge. I'm on mobile. And also, I was about to give DD a bath so ignore the monkey towel and bubbles in the background
Hubby and I were best friends first. I spent a year giving him a hard time because I knew he was in love with me, but he didn't want to risk our friendship. A few months before Christmas his brother offered him some jewelry to give to me, hoping his brother would realize we were meant to be. Hubby took one look at the ring and decided to propose. We weren't even dating yet, but he started going on about this AMAZING present he got me for Xmas. I immediately knew what it was. We still didn't become "official" until about a month before Christmas.
The ring had to have an entirely new band put on it tho, so it wasn't ready in time for Christmas. At the end of January I finally admitted I knew about it and very shyly asked what the hold up was. I was worried he was second guessing himself. He said it was ready but he was working on the getting the cash to pay for it. He was struggling at the time and I wasn't, so I gave him the cash, told him my money was his money, and we got engaged just 3 months after we started dating. We were married a year and a half later and I added this cute little band to compliment, but never outshine, the ring my husband picked for me.
My hubby and I are currently sitting at the airport, going away for my birthday. Of course, my favorite bling is my ring! My grandmother gave us the center stone - it was her great aunts and has been in the family forever. The vintage setting is my favorite. Now, to find a ring that will look great stacked on the other side in baby's birthstone.
all of these stories are gonna make my hormonal self tear up!
i I also love how these posts show everyone's personal style. and @kmolleltz I love your outfit! I also love that you're sharing your new culture with us!
@mrszoess I don't really have much jewelry otherwise so later a beautiful Tanzanite ring is in store but we are committed to finishing our house first
side note: mazoezi is the word exercise in swahili and that is pretty much how I always read your name.... hah

My favorite is obviously my ring set as well. The only guidance I gave DH was I wanted platinum, Princess cut, and big. Lol. The bagette diamonds on the sides aren't something I would have picked, but I love how the ring turned out. He had this custom made, but funnily enough we found an exact matching band while on a trip together in Texas (engagement ring made in PA).
My second favorite piece of jewelry is my "push present" diamond ring that I wear on my right hand, but today is literally the one day I don't have it on to show!
My favorite piece of jewelry is our wedding rings. I told my friend when DH and I started dating that he was the one I was going to marry. We were planning a vacation to New Orleans and decided that we were just going to elope while we were down there, only 8 months after we started dating. We ordered my ring online and it arrived the Saturday before we left. We wanted something that matched for his and at the last minute the day before we left we found his.
Mine would also be my engagement/weddings rings. DH picked the engagement ring out himself, and I had no clue. He asked me Christmas morning, after being together for 7 years. He is really anal about blinds facing the wrong way. When I woke up and walked into the living room, they were facing the wrong way. He was making breakfast and asked me to fix them. This is what it said on the other side:
@kmolleltz that is ironic bc my chubby self does not like to exercise at all!!! hahha
haha me either! so it's a bit surprising to me too

Mine is also my wedding set. DH had it custom made and it is absolutely perfect. DH proposed at Smith & Wollensky on the Strip. We were planning our dream wedding when we received the dreaded infertility diagnosis so our wedding fund "funded" DD's conception and we got married at the Courthouse right before she was born. It'll get my dream wedding one day.
Don't judge my messy desk, I'm in discovery and trial hell.
So this is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry but my all time favorite is at my house and I am not there...so maybe I will post it later. This is my wedding set.
I do not have a picture of my favorite piece of jewelry, because DD helped herself to it and lost it, BUT, I will tell the story anyway! FI is super traditional, and despite us getting pregnant with LO before we were engaged, he refused to buy a ring to propose with that was less than half of his monthly wages. We just couldn't afford it at the time, and I couldn't allow him to do that while we had other things that needed paid at the time. So, one day while we were at the laundry mat, he put a quarter in one of the jewelry machines and came back with one that had my birth stone and told me he at least wanted SOMETHING on my finger from him, and even though it was just 25 cent costume jewelry, it was beautiful and special to me and I loved it. Obviously my new favorite it my engagement ring, which also has a neat story because he proposed to me in the dentist office while I was having my teeth pulled! He was laughing at me because half of my face was numb and limp, and the nurses told him he was being mean. He said "I'm not being mean, I love her no matter what, as a matter of fact I'll show you how much I love her", he got down on one knee and proposed to me right then and there, and after I cried for a minute and avvepted, he kissed me right on my limp, bloody mouth ♡ My other favorite is this huge, tacky, tahitian black pearl he bought me. He overheard me talking about loving black pearls, and bought me one. He couldn't tell from the picture how huge it really was until it arrived, but I love it regardless for the thought! It is AW jewelry to the extreme, but I wear it casually anyway haha
I love my wedding set, but my most special piece is a ring that was my grandmother's and was also worn by my great and great-great grandmother. I got it after my grandmother passed away (right before we found out about our baby). it's sentimental value is priceless. (Sorry if picture is huge..on mobile)
Both of these pieces are my favorite for sentimental reasons...
The one on the left is my maternal grandmother's engagement diamond surrounded by the diamonds from the watch my grandfather gave her on her wedding day. My aunt had them reset into a gaudy pave piece my grandmother never wore, and I also didn't like, so when my mother gave the ring to me about 12 years ago, I had it reset into a custom setting.
The one on the right is the ring my father gave my mother the day I was born. It's so 70's and extremely gaudy and I hardly ever wear it, but I can't bring myself to change it. My father passed away in 1999.
My wedding set is my favorite. The center stone was in my great grandmother's and my grandmother's engagement rings. My dh bought the wrap as an anniversary gift a few years ago, and we ended up needing a new setting for the stone so it would fit the wrap. I love that he found and bought the wrap all on his own. There's a lot of meaning to my rings and I wouldn't change a thing about them.
My wedding set is my favorite, too. I waited 9 years before I got it, so I better love it! Haha. I also have a necklace that was my 2 year dating a anniversary present, but one of the stones fell out and I haven't been able to get it fixed yet.
I love my wedding set the most, too! Heck, it's definitely the most expensive piece of jewelry I own, so I might as well! We got married on our ten-year anniversary. I don't remember when I picked it out, but we had only been together a year or so at the time. We didn't get engaged - I basically realized our ten-year anniversary fell on a Saturday and decided we were getting married then. He tried to talk me into waiting another year halfheartedly, then gave in. To be fair I would like to point out it was the whole wedding thing that he was unsure of, not me. I was right, though - the timing worked out very well with other life events.
This is the Badali Nenya - it was designed from the description of the Lord of the Rings books, before the movies came out. While we are fantasy fans, I picked it more because I love the leaves than the LOTR association.
My favorite piece is also my wedding ring. DH and I looked at rings after about a year and a half of dating. I told him I wanted simple and timeless but pointed out the solitaires with the diamond bands. He liked the simple solitaire so ended up going with that. I'm glad he did because a few months before our wedding, my Dad gave me his mother's wedding band and it was perfect! It wouldn't have gone with any other ring but the one H picked and I just love them together. Something old and sentimental with something new and special.

My wedding set is my fav too...They don't fit right now and that makes me sooooo sad. Here is my engagement ring, this picture doesn't do it justice though. There's all sorts of intricate filigree on the sides that you can't see in this pic. It's a vintage ring that we picked out together with a green tourmaline stone. My band was custom made to fit around it and has some beading and diamonds. He proposed to me at Disneyland! I was there with a girlfriend and he had it all planned out. Her husband and DH are best friends and planned this whole elaborate surprise. I had no idea they were there too. My friend and I were walking around and I see her husband quickly walking towards me with a video camera and they were all saying "Turn around!" then there was my husband down on one knee! BUT his friend didn't hit record so we don't have the footage lol. We have pics though! Apparently I kept ruining the plan because I kept suggesting rides away from the proposal spot. Finally my friend was like, "THIS is my favorite ride, PLEASE can we go"... It was a kiddy ride, so I was like - "ehhhh... yeah... ok." Looking back I guess she was acting kind of weird, but I was totally oblivious.
I waited 7 years for this ring, so it's definitely my favorite bling. My husband proposed while we were in Kauai sitting on the beach under a blue moon. It was perfect. And the wedding band belonged to my grandmother, who I miss dearly.
I love my wedding set too, but my husband gave me this silver, handmade ring with our son's name the Christmas I was pregnant, and it is so dear to me. Can't wait to decide on a name for this new little baby so I can have one for both my boys.
I have a feeling this pic is huge to people who aren't mobile. I'm sorry! This is my engagement ring, which I am absolutely in love with. We picked out the setting together. She had a few picked out but wanted me to love it so asked for my final opinion. Wedding band irritated my finger (allergy to white gold) so we will be getting a platinum one sometime in the near future to match it.
I'm late to the party but oh well! My husband picked my engagement ring out on his own and I love him for it. It's perfect. I picked a wedding band that is fused at the bottom.
We were together for 4 years before he asked me. It was nothing terribly elaborate or crazy, it was simple and I'll never forget it! We've been together short of 10 years now and I do not know where time has gone. Edit to add- we went to the store together to shop. I picked out my favourite three but made it pretty obvious This was my absolute favourite, though any 3 of them would of been awesome! I just didn't want any claws.
This picture is from our Honeymoon from this past summer so the lighting on the ship tinted it a bit lol... But it's my favorite ring picture! My ring didn't have a set but this wedding band fit perfectly!!
Hubs and I had it made.Canary yellow diamond and two bands on each side. The bands are like the first ring he gave me but was lost while trying to get diamonds repaired.(Different jeweler)Been together 20 years married 7 this June.
