Sweating at night

My DS is 2 1/2 weeks old, and starting at about 1 week I have been sweating like crazy at night. I have been very cold while sweating... Has this happened to anyone else? If so, when did it go away?

Re: Sweating at night

  • My son is 3 weeks old today and I still wake up sweaty, however it is nowhere near as bad as it was those first 2 weeks. I was told it is all of the fluid from pregnancy swelling leaving your body.

  • Yes normal- huge drop in your hormones.  It's kind of like menopause.

  • Totally normal. It was worse for me between weeks 2 and 3, it's getting much better now. Preview of what menopause might feel like ;)

  • I feel you on this new mama! It is miserable but normal. There isn't enough deodorant in the world! We are having a bit of a heat stroke here and I am dying!! Hang in there!
  • Yup. I've woken up with my sheets soaked from sweat at least 3 or 4 times since my son was born 2 and a half weeks ago. I've heard it's normal and due to crazy hormones. Super annoying and gross though!

  • Lurking from Feb. My night sweats started in pregnancy, peaked at 3 weeks PP and ended just before week 5.

  • Update! Lol. 2 nights ago I woke up to feed LO and had COMPLETELY soaked my old tshirt, and I mean soaked, it was heavy. Gross.
  • Has anyone had this start later? I'm 5.5 weeks postpartum and the last two nights I've woken up drenched. It hasn't happened before now.
  • So that's what's going on.

  • Yes! Mine was accompanied with fever and chills about 3 days PP. I otherwise didn't feel sick. My dr said its all hormonal. How fun!
  • The good news is that night sweats usually result in lower numbers on the scale!  But that is pretty much the only good thing about them.
  • I have been having night sweats like this at least twice a week since we came home from the hoslital 4 weeks ago. It is so bad that I leave out extra clothes before I go to bed in case I need to change when I get up to feed the baby. However, I only have 5 more pounds to lose and I will be back at my prepregnancy weight.
  • Drenching the bed every night so far and do is 4 weeks old today.
I leave an extra nursing bra and gown out each night for when I get up to nurse. All the pregnancy weight is gone but man I'm tired of wet sheets etc....
