Infertility

Start early?

im sorry I'm listing s ton but I feel like I have so many questions about all this!

I called led the nurse yesterday about our timeline and told her our original plan was to start after I get my period at the end of May. She told me at that point I would be on BC pills for two weeks then I guess start injections after that? So if I map it out right that means this process will take us until the end of June almost.

Well I was wondering if I should call them back and asked to start with my April period instead of May bc there is a very large possibility I will be starting s brand new job and complete career chance at the beginning on June. I wanted to give myself time to eat healthy etc but worried about all the side effect of injections etc right when I'm starting a new job. Any suggestions on what you would do? April or May?

Re: Start early?

  • Hey @LizMB
I would check with your RE office if starting sooner is even an option, my clinic is small and only does egg retrievals/transfers 2 weeks/month so only can be done certain times. I would say, having gone through 2 IVF cycles, even though I worked through both and felt pretty good despite meds, that it is stressful and starting a new job at the same time would be extra stress....especially with trying to balance nearly daily appointments, if you can't start earlier, I would consider postponing a month or two...I know waiting is the hardest, but you want to give the cycle the best chance to work and take the best care of yourself!
    Best of luck!!!

  • @2legbaby I thought the same thing. Luckily I called yesterday and my RE was fine with bumping me up a month so we're starting with my period April 28th

I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!
  • That's great news!!!!

  • Hi, hun! Well, I agree you have to call to your clinic once again and ask them for the possibility of doing it a month earlier. But I'm not sure if this helps you much with your career. :/ Look, I just see this like a beginning of at least 10 month journey. You'll have to go for appointments, take meds (possible side effects), doing testing, etc. I believe you can try to get used to the situation but I doubt if this would be possible for longer period of time.
I was also supposed to get the promotion, but it coincided with the beginning of the treatment. I have endo and PCOS, causing me lots of dreadful pain I couldn't stand longer. So I thought this would be better to get rid of them first. Then to move on with conceiving. Had a surgery which did removed pains. But it didn't help with fertility improvement. Then docs, meds, clinics, apps - everything, I could hardly find time for work. Unfortunately they said at work I had to choose. And I chose - de ivf treatment and chance for fulfilling my family. Went abroad - Ukrainian Biotexcom clinic. This was only 3rd att I got pregnant with.
Of course I didn't mean to make you upset with my story - this is just life. We have to be ready for every occasion. Wish you all the best with your treatment. Many gentle hugs for you :*
