New RE questions

Hello all,
I am finally at a point now where I am changing RE's after several BFN's and a plethora of other issues.
I was wondering are there any questions I should ask this new RE? Also any information and tips you have when switching RE's would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: New RE questions

  • Just make sure you know what issues you had with your first RE so you can address them with the new one. Good luck!

  • I'm sorry that you have to switch doctors. I hope that you won't have any trouble getting your files transferred.

  • @dragonfaerieI hope not. I want to get a copy for myself and I won't tell my current office that I'm seeking another RE. They would only be aware when the new RE asks them to release my embabies to them. I hope it works out for me though.

  • I feel you girl! I haven't gone through any actual treatment yet, just tests, tests and more tests. However, many of my family and girlfriends have gone thru IUI/IVF and here's my advice...
    1. You need to be comfortable with the new doc and their "bedside manner". It's important you're able to ask questions and feel they're thoroughly answered!
    2. Be confident in your decision to move to another doctor's care. Just because it didn't work out with this one, doesn't mean you'll have the same problems all over again.
    3. Research the issues you had with your current doc. For example, my GF decided against doing 3 day transfers, because she researched 5 day and found you save time/emotional distress/money by this process. Not saying you should take this road, but ask the detailed questions of how you and your egg-babies will be handled in this doctor's care.
I am also extremely unhappy with my RE and plan to switch soon. Bad bedside manner, inappropriate jokes about being in IVF because of the money, trying to shove IVF down our throats when we have barely begun blood-work and testing of myself/hubs.

    Good luck <3
  • @Luvyamorea  thanks for the advice. Yeah I was not really comfortable with my last RE I couldn't put my finger on it but I've made up my mind to move on. Yes I will try to stay positive that everything will work out better while moving on. Thanks I will definitely ask how we will be handled.
As for you being unhappy I would say go with your gut. I made sure to check which other providers are in network before selecting an RE. I do not need any crazy bills during this process. Also if possible and available I would look into the RE's reviews. As I've read IVF isn't for anyone. Some people get pregnant after doing IUI, IVF is a later option. I would research before making any decisions. My insurance only covered IVF after I completed a few IUI's. So I would also check what your insurance company says.
