No childcare

Warning- long rant.
So , I go back to work in a week.  DH is going to stay home my first week back meaning DS was supposed to start daycare the beginning of May.  We found a great woman that lives in our neighborhood that has a licensed daycare in her home.  DH refused to send in the check to secure our spot because some friend of his told him that he might know a nanny looking for work at a cheap rate and he wanted to check that out first. Now the daycare lady just contacted me to tell me that our spot was taken by someone else.
I've spent the last hour looking at care.com and all the nannies are at least twice what we would have paid for daycare and twice what we can afford.  DH is crazy busy at work and working really long hours, so coming up with a new plan is all going to fall on me.  While I try to deal with a super fussy, clingy newborn that doesn't want to nap.  He's lucky he's at work or he might not have survived the morning.

Re: No childcare

  • :( Sorry you are going though that. It's a maddening time and top it off with unneeded stress. My little one is really fussy and doesn't nap or sleep well and I have a 2 yr old Tha fights sleep. Just know that all these things will pass and the DH will always do something like that. We are having trouble finding care for two :/. Good luck

  • Oh lord. If that were my DH, I might knock him out! In our town there is no childcare; however there are wait lists for next year!
Since you likely live in a town where you can find a provider, I vote that you stay calm, talk to DH about what has happened, and see if he can work out an immediate solution with you. Tonight.
    Good luck, girl!
