Getting Rid of leftover IVF meds

Hi All- with a very heavy and hallow heart, I am writing with a negative from our final embryo transfer. We got the final confirmation that our final FET did not take. I have so much extra meds. What I am supposed to do or can I do with them? I can't imagine the pharmacy taking them back, even unopened. But so much $$$$ is sitting there that I will never use again. Also, having it take up space in my hall closet is just making me feel worse.

Any words of advice?

There is a group on facebook called Give Away Acosta but it is to give away your medicine. There is also a lady through thebump.com on infertility veterans that organizing matching people as well, her name is Mindy oopmeds@yahoo.com, you can also find them on facebook at OOP Meds. You can always sell it too, this is technically illegal but as someone who has spent over $40K in procedures and medicines and b/c of kind people trying to do exactly what you are doing and get back a little I have bought from people before as well at a lesser price. You can also go to freegaragesale.com and click on medical and you will see people selling meds. I will also say this, depending upon what meds you have I would be interested as well. So let me know.

lildaup, I'm sorry to hear about your result. I am 3 days away from my beta and all negative POAS so far. It's also our final cycle. We are in the same boat and I am thinking about you as you grieve your last loss.

I am so sorry for the both of you. I am not too far behind you as my last 2 procedures have been cancelled and we are trying just one more. Here is my email if either of you do decide to give them away or sell them I would be interested as I am going to be doing one more round, round #8!

The IF clinic I went to would take them as donations. I believe this is pretty standard.

I asked about donating since we were able to do that in the past. I was told it is now illegal to give or sell the meds. As someone that had to pay out of pocket for them in the past, I know how insanely expensive they are and it broke my heart that we couldn't donate them anymore.

It is technically "illegal" but that is why wonderful women have created side groups to help with this. Yes its "illegal" to sell ALL prescriptions or donate b/c they are prescribed to you and only you. Its hard to write a law that says, hey dont sell your Oxy but you can sell your fertility drugs. I have had much success with donating and selling my drugs and also receiving donated and bought meds from other wonderful ladies just like you looking to help others out. Best of Luck.

I am looking for anyone to help me that has any left over medications. I am in need of Gonal F, cetritide and menopur. Do you have any of those that you would be willing to donate to me? I will even give you a tax write off for them it would mean the world to me.

I am so sorry. There used to be an OOP meds donation here but I'm not sure if it made it though the exodus, but I donated a lot of meds to that, and the rest I donated back to my REs office.

Ladies be careful on here talking about giving and receiving meds. The admins have closed quite a few of these type of threads and some people have even had their account suspended. My best suggestion is to talk with your RE's office about what they would suggest.

I can't stand these admins. They shut down threads like these ASAP, but if you ask them to clean up your board they completely ignore you.

Anyway, I'm so sorry that your FET didn't work out. We ended up donating unused meds to our clinic; they were very thankful. This is in Canada though, I suppose it was legal.

My clinic will not help with meds at all no samples no meds that were donated back. Now I need even more meds, cause my body did not respond well enough to the first round, so next round is in 4 weeks. I have to order an extra $1000 in meds and I had not planned on that. Need help, I want this so much.

I will be starting IVF in the next three weeks I’m not able to Afford some of the medication.

My clinic let me donate my meds. DH even took a cooler to keep Follistim cool.
