Toddler Cold Remedies

My daughter has a respiratory virus, so of course the treatment is to let it do its thing. She is miserable! She's never been this lethargic and congested. Any toddler mamas with hacks to help with congestion other than the usual saline spray? We use a cool mist humidifier nightly...has anyone ever added Vicks to it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Between her and the babe, I need sleep for the first time this week!

    I am a homeopathy believer, even though it is not instantaneous I find it helps it run its course faster. When my baby was congested I gave her kali bichromicum, but the remedy depends if it is white or yellow mucus. And for babies it is a pain to administer because you need to melt the pellets first.

    I'm a Vicks believer. I love the baby Vick's and I (still) rub it on my 4 year old's feet when he's congested, then socks on for bed. Maybe elevating her pillow a bit to help her breathe easier, and warm baths with the door closed to trap the steam may help to break up some of the mucus. Good luck, mama. Nothing worse then a sick baby (even your "big" baby) :(

    Thank you! We did the Vicks and socks and it definitely helped!! We'll do a warm bath with the door closed tonight! Thank you :)

    Vicks is awesome! I've put a teeny bit in a wax warmer in my older daughters room it made a huge difference.

    @dkubb ahhh a warmer! I never thought of it! She's on the mend, so I'll definitely use that trick the next time she's congested. Out nee issue is now her entire face is red and scabbed from rubbing her sleeve across her runny nose for a week. I never thought there'd be a bright side to eczema, but the lotion we have for her dry skin is working wonders. This poor girl can't catch a break.

    We've also used the Zarbees naturals cough & mucous.  We're big believers in having a humidifier in the bedroom too.

    Vicks baby rub on the bottom of their feet with socks on, Zarbees cough and mucus if they are stuffed up, Hylands Tiny Cold tabs for sneezing and congestion, and a humidifier.
