Hi Moms!
Hoping to get some advice. Our due date was last Saturday the 9th. I began feeling contractions early that morning, and started monitoring them after a few hours around 5 am. They were getting closer, they were frequent, and consistent but never got very painful. I didn't realize at the time, but when I changed position they slowed down. Went to hospital around 6 pm, and was sent home at 85% thinned and 2 cm dilated. Low and behold, Sunday I felt almost nothing leading me to believe I had experienced false labor. I think I never really considered false labor the day before because I was just so excited.
Late Sunday night I started experiencing sharp pains in my lower abdomen/pelvic area that were extremely painful. Told our doctor about pains Monday at our appointment. Although I did not really think they were contractions (they were irregular and were not increasing in intensity), I felt they were something significant due to how painful they were. My doctor did not even examine me, telling me I probably had not progressed since I saw him Saturday evening. He told me the pains were due to the baby being so low (they have been telling me that baby is very low for the past couple of weeks) putting pressure on my bladder and pelvic bone. All last night and this morning I again had the pains. They are extremely painful! But then I think I was also having contractions. Throughout all of this I have also been having the bloody show and loss of plug.
That was long, but I am just having a hard time distinguishing everything. Could they be contractions? I guess it could be both pressure and contractions? If not contractions could it be signaling something bad (can the baby be distressed so low?)? Would pelvic pressure come in waves and be so painful? I am just so confused, and feel brushed off by my doctor and hospital.
Thank you for any advice in advance
Re: 40+Weeks False Labor/Pelvic Pain?
The baby being low is a good thing, and that's something that can happen for a while.
Contractions happen, but if they aren't consistent, you probably aren't in labor yet. Sounds like you're gearing up and things will happen soon. Good luck!
