Everytime I go to the doctor, she tells.me I'm dehydrated. I've tried drinking water but apparently it's not enough. Still feeling sluggish and extremely exhausted.and I'm thirsty all the time. What are you ladies doing to stay hydrated?
I make sure to drink 3-4 bottles of water everyday. As I like a variety of taste, I'll add cucumbers to the water, Mio squirts, etc. I find that if the water is a little bit flavored, I'll finish it no problem. I've been staying away from diet colas, but will indulge in a decaf or half calf latte. I figure all the milk a good thing! Plus it is delicious!
I have the same issue. I try to keep drinking, but it's hard. Sometimes I forget and sometimes I'm too nauseous. Ditto @Pupatella, flavored water has been much easier to do. A slice of lemon, lime, or even orange helps my stomach. Mio or Crystal Light also helps.
Its easier at at home because I can keep a glass right by me. I have a waterbottle I take to work, but I'm running around so much that it gets set down and forgotten
I agree with the finding little flavor things to add to my water, helps me think its not water. Athough I usually water them down quite a bit, like the packets that you are suppose to mix into 8oz I mix into 1.5L bottles of water.
For me I find having REALLY cold water helps me drink more
I have to infuse mine with fruit and have it ice cold. Also, I've been drinking a couple servings of good quality coconut water a day. It really helps with dehydration.
I have an app (plant nanny) that nags me every two hours and if I don't drink enough it kills my digital plant. I'm downing about 100oz on an average day which helps keep my cramping down and me feeling better.
I do water, flavored water, unsweet tea, Gatorade, juice, milk. Fruit counts, especially juicy ones. Soup if it isn't too salty counts towards liquids as well. Chugging water isn't the only option.
I have a 32 oz bottle that I try to finish during the work day. I also pack a regular bottle to finish at lunch. I find that I drink more in the morning because it's still cold, so I put it back in the fridge for a half hour or so when I get home and refill it to drink throughout the course of the night. Unflavored doesn't bother me, it's just trying to drink even more than I already did. I'm not a huge drinker, so that's been challenging for me.
Plain water makes my nausea worse so I add lemons. I also drink lemonade or Gatorade when I can't stomach water. The key is finding something that you want to drink. Oh, I've also been eating a lot of Popsicles.
I have an issue with staying hydrated too! I drink it faster if I use a container with a straw, because I absent mindedly drink with the straw so it goes faster.
Water makes me so nauseous and I hate flavored water too. I'm struggling with this. Right now I do ok with cold water, so I'm doing the best I can with that (which isn't great).
I keep a giant water bottle with me at all times, so I don't have to keep remembering to get a glass. Sparkling water is another great option to add variety and help beat nausea!
Watered down lemonade, peppermint tea, and really cold water. Coconut milk is a good idea, I might try that soon. I lost my favorite glass water bottle that had a straw, I need a new one. The straw does make it easier to drink the water faster.
I'm not doing a very good job of it. I feel like there's not room in my stomach for all the water I want to drink and I'm sick of getting up twice a night to pee. A pregnant friend just got some fancy water infuser thing she keeps in her fridge and she swears by it. Like you keep fruit in one side and water in the other? I buy lemons to add to my water but then I forget about them and they mold in the fruit bowl. Because I buy organic. For the baby. Sigh.
I make a big pitcher of water with a few slices of cucumber, strawberries, and lemon and keep it in the fridge. It is so delicious and makes me feel like I'm away somewhere or off at a spa....
Yes to all the infused water suggestions. I like lime or cucumber in mine. Plain water makes my nausea so much worse - esp if it's tap water. (Way to be a snob already, baby. )
I time my water so that by noon I have to have finished X number of ounces and by 4PM X more ounces, etc. I'm weirdly training myself to be thirsty, lol.
I'm so relieved to see some other mamas drinking Crystal Light here...for some reason lately it's like the ONLY thing I feel like drinking in the evenings, which I know is not ideal given the artificial sweetener (and also really odd since I can't stand diet/fake sugar anything else in life).
My office is in the hallway that leads to our kitchen, so I've weirdly trained myself to be a stalked and whenever anyone walks by, if my water glass is less than half full I go refill it then and slurp some down while chatting and/or just strolling back to my desk.
I'm also with the straw-lovers...I find that drinking ANYTHING through a straw makes it sooooo much faster and somehow easier (who would have thought drinking would be hard?).
@kateleap Straws YES! I have one for a travel cup and I keep grabbing for it so today I grabbed a pack of reusable straws at the store and it's helping me to constantly be sipping. Sipping is easier than gulping.
I have a 32 ounce water bottle that I fill up with half ice/half water so it stays cool and will drink it throughout the day. I then re-fill when I get home and drink another before bed. Having the bottle really helps me
Glad I am not the only one in the dehydrated boat. My urine looks radioactive. I try hard but know I am still not drinking enough. Lots of ice seems to help and a squeeze of lemon in the water but I end up eating the lemon before I am done with the water. I also tried watered down apple and cranberry juice which tastes good.
The last few days this hasn't been a problem for me at all, I have been super thirsty and I'm anxious about preventing another episode of passing out. My advice would be to go to Target or wherever and pick out a super cute water bottle that you're excited to carry around with you everywhere. I have an adorable glass water bottle with a teal case and it makes me happy! I find that when I do get dehydrated, it's because going to get a glass of water is inconvenient or I get busy, so making sure I have water to sip throughout the day is so much easier for me than trying to sit down and drink a whole glass.
I'm very active at my job so I have water bottles stashed everywhere. As soon as I feel the need for water I go to the nearest bottle. I drink Smart Water and regular bottled & filtered water. I also drink a ton of hot tea, usually fruit tea & a little green tea. Down side...having to pee every 30 min!

Just fyi your prenatals will also turn your urine practically neon! If you are on top of your water and still have highlighter-hued pee, that is probably the cause
Apparently I haven't been. I never drink much in general, and the water has been making me more nauseous so it's been hard to drink enough. I've been having random contractions for the last two weeks, I finally called the dr and they said it's too early for Braxton-Hicks contractions so if I'm having them it means I'm dehydrated.
For the crystal light ladies who mentioned they were concerned about a artificial sweeteners, I found these at target and they're sweetened with stevia!
@mrscorker Thank you for posting!! Do you find they have that distinct stevia taste, if you know what I mean? We have a cool beverage machine in my office that makes flavored water and soft drinks, and most of the little pods are stevia sweetened, but they just taste gross to me! It's new so I don't know if it's a me think or a preggo-me thing, haha. Either way I'll look for those packets at Target!

I've never noticed a specific taste with stevia. I use it constantly so I'm pretty used to it. These true lemon packets taste like crystal light to me.

I bought a fruit infuser bottle over the weekend. It has helped me drink more water than any other trick I've tried. I currently have strawberries and blackberries in it!
