I had GD with my 1st pregnancy, and was careful to track my numbers as closely as I could. I haven't taken the test yet (next week), but my OB had me check my numbers on my own, and they were borderline high, so I just have a feeling that I will have the diagnosis again this time. Thinking ahead, I am wondering if there are any apps to make it easier to track your meals and sugar levels, since this time around I'm chasing a toddler around and need things to be easier to use. Anyone know of good apps to track this? Anyone else been diagnosed yet?
Re: Gestational Diabetes
The Rowdy Roberts
I downloaded a diabetes app but didn't find it helpful. I like the myfitnesspal app to track my carbs. I pretty much know what I can and can't eat. I was diagnosed at 14w this time. Luckily my sugars were good last time I went to the diabetes management doc that I was able to cut back to testing 2x a day, morning fasting and after dinner. We'll see if things change.
Good luck!
My OB has asked me to test fasting AM and 1 hour after 1 meal per day until I take the test next week. I'll know more then. Last time I had very good control of my numbers with just diet and exercise, and it wasn't that bad. I am mostly hoping to find an easy way to keep track of my numbers this time around. Last time, I had a Google docs spreadsheet that was a bit challenging and I was hoping to find something easier since I have a 21 month old that I have to chase around now:)
No more Miss! I think testing at 24 weeks is slightly sooner than last time, but I also switched practices. I'm not really considered high risk though, so that may be why. I do remember figuring out pretty quickly meals that worked and didn't. I tend to eat basically the same thing for breakfast & lunch every day, it's just dinner that changes.
Good luck to you too! I'm sure this topic will come up more on the board as more go through the testing.
Although it has helped me with weight gain, it's a bit of a PITA to remember to bring my glucose meter and set alarms to test.
I want jelly beans and white bread! Ugh!
