Infertility

Brand new to this group and excited to have a support system (child mentioned)

Hi everyone! I am brand new to this board so I figured I would introduce myself. I was on a group a while back when I had my daughter and loved the support from these groups. Obviously infertility can be a rocky road so if I can get support from people who are in it with me or have been then it makes it that much easier :)

a a little about me:

me: 31
DH: 33
i have a 3 year old that I conceived in a previous marriage.

DH doesn't have any children and has had low T for a while. He was put on testosterone with HCG (so it would have less effect on fertility supposedly) to increase his Testostrone awhile ago so We were worried it possibly would affect fertility so an SA was done in July and showed low morphology and motility and concentration. Another one was done about three months ago and counts and gone way down. Motility is very low and morphology was 0. His volume was good though.

RE told us we would be a great candidate for IVF ICSI so that is what we are planning on.

although we recently got some bad news...I went in for my FSH blood work etc and my FSH came back at 15.5. And my follicle count was very low. I have regular periods and ovulate bc I had that checked recently and my progesterone was good. All my other work and ultra sounds were good but apparently now my RE is concerned with how I will respond to the IVF meds.

My DH is on HCG and clomid for the next 4 weeks to try and get his counts up.

I'm just bummed about my results...I guess I assumed I was fine bc I had my daughter only three years ago without help and never would have guessed my FSH would be so high now.

As of right now the plan is to see how my DH levels are at the end of April and then start IVF meds middle toward end of May.

Thank yall in advance for your support bc my husband and I are doing this without telling anymore besides our parents and a couple people we are close with. The majority of our family and friends don't know so it's nice to have someone to talk to that's going through this also.

  • Welcome, thank you for joining us here!  We also have MFI, and husband has low T, so he was referred to a urologist.  Clomid helped improve his count so hopefully the clomid will help your husband too!  Unfortunately after 4 months of my husband being on clomid, we haven't seen improvement in motility or morphology, so we've continued with the RE.  We're probably doing one more IUI then moving to IVF so maybe I'll see you around the IVF threads! :)
    ***BFP & Child Warning***

    Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
    IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs
IVF ER (July 2016) = 7 PGS normal embryos
    FET #1 (Sept 2016) = BFP! DD born 5/30/17
    FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN
    FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
  • Well that is good to know the Clomid is helping with one factor at least. I will send baby dust your way that IUI works for you first as I'm sure it's much cheaper than IVF
  • Thank you!
