With so many changes taking place for many of us (starting solids, consolidating naps, wacky sleep cycles), schedules are probably shifting.
What does your routine/schedule look like nowadays?
Anyone yet consolidate naps? Care to share what that process looked like?
Re: 7 months: Daily Routine/Schedule?
7:30 wake
8 breakfast
9:30-11 nap #1
12 lunch
2-4 nap #2
5:30 supper
7:30 bedtime
Meals are BLW from the table. She also nurses on demand. She fell into the 2-3-4 sleep pattern on her own, but I encourage the consistency because it helps keep a routine for the other kids (my 3yo and home daycare kids). She flip flopped between 2 or 3 naps for ages, but is pretty settled now with 2. The only thing I did was commit to scheduling around her first nap. If her first nap is solid, the rest of the day is great
8:45/9:00 Bottle, cereal & fruit
11:00-12:00 Nap #1
12:00 Bottle, fruit/veggie combo
2:00-3:00 Nap #2
3:00 Bottle
6:00 Bottle & veggie
6:30 Bath
7/7:30 Bedtime
Nurse or bottle of pumped milk every 3 hours during the day, with a jar of stage 2 veggies around noon and 1.5 TBS of oatmeal mixed with 1/2-1 jar of stage 2 fruit early evening.
7am - wake up. I always wake her at this time. I breastfeed her first thing.
8.30am - solids. Whatever I'm having, usually scrambled eggs or porridge with fruit.
9.15am - sleep.
10.15am - wake
11am - breastfeed
12pm - solids. Usually a fruit and vege combo, no idea how much.
12.45pm - sleep
2.45pm - wake
3pm - breastfeed
4.30 - 15min nap if getting grumpy
5pm - solids. Fruit and vege combo.
5.50pm - bath, every second night.
6.15pm - breastfeed
6.30pm - sleep.
We've been lucky in that she's slept through the night for a while. Consolidation came by her cues - she used to take three 1.5 hour naps. When she started to really fight the afternoon nap I just pushed her awake times out to get her through the day. A sleep consultant that came to my mothers group also said to keep the morning nap to 30/40mins to encourage a longer afternoon nap, which is most important to get them through the day.
- 7-8 am bottle and back to sleep
-10:30 wake up and have a bottle
-we play for a little on my bed and eventually make it into the living room.
-11-11:30 I put him in the jumperoo so I can eat/slowly wake up up because I am not a morning person
- play
- 1:00 I give him 4 oz of fruit purées, followed by 2 oz of water or a small bottle if he's super hungry
- 2-2:30 nap
- 3:30-4 bottle
- play
- 5:30-6 nap but he may or may not take a bottle beforehand, depends on the day
- 7-8 pm 4 oz vegetable purées
- 8:30-9:30 bath
- 10-11 pm bottle and bedtime
8:00 am wake up, morning routine
8:45 bottle, a tiny bit of baby cereal.
10:30 nap
11:30 purées and bottle
2:15 bottle
2:45 nap
5:00 baby cereal and bottle, maybe a little fruit purée
7:30 bedtime routine
8:00 last bottle and bed
This is an aproximate schedule. Sometimes her afternoon nap is closer to 1 pm and sometimes she does 2 afternoon naps. We just follow her lead at this point.
- up for the day between 6:45-8 (I let him wake up naturally)
- nurse right at wake up (he usually only takes a few sips; he's very ready to start the day).
- play for an hour
- full nurse then down for an hour nap
- two hours play (give solids in the middle of this time frame)
- full nurse then down for 1-2 hour nap
- up for the rest of day (maybe a short 15-40min nap around 5 if tired after nursing)
- solids at supper (6ish)
- bath and bed time routine at 7
- asleep by 8
7:30 am Wake
8:30 or 9 am-6 oz bottle
10:00-11:30 am- Nap#1
12:00 pm -4 oz of Solids and finger foods with water
1:30- 6 oz bottle
2-4 pm- Nap#2
6 pm - Solid meal
7pm-Bath
7:30- 8 oz bottle
8pm- Bed
11:30-12am- MOTN 6 oz bottle
Occasionally DS2 has an extra 2 or 4 ounces if he needs something to make it until bedtime and sometimes he is too sleepy and needs an earlier bedtime at 7:30pm but this is pretty much the new routine we have moved into just going off of his cues.
The only thing I sort of pushed was making his second nap 2-4pm because that is when my 2 year old naps as well. I just kept him up an extra half hour or so, it wasn't too much for him and actually made nap time easier.
ETA: Nap consolidation just sort of happened as his stayed awake longer. It has become necessary for him to be awake at least 2.5 hours in between or he starts pulling up in his crib more and fighting sleep. When I keep him awake longer he usually is easier to soothe and doesn't stand as much. He still takes a third nap some days (today he did) but he is more and more difficult to fall asleep and usually only gets 20 minutes or so until I have to wake him.
6:00 bottle
8:30-9:30 nap
9:30 oatmeal and fruit
10:00 bottle
12-1 nap
1:00 bottle
3-4 nap
4:00 bottle
Sometimes a short nap around 6 or 6:30
7:00 veggie and fruit
7:30 bottle
8:00 bedtime
He had been sleeping through the night for the most part in a rock n play in our room, but we moved his bedtime back an hour and to the crib a couple weeks ago and he wakes more often but usually puts himself back to sleep within a couple minutes.
Eta: We didn't start solids until almost 6 months, so we're slowly adding more and doc said we shouldn't add in a 3rd meal until 9 months.
he will wake between 5am and 7am and chug 6oz and go straight back to sleep)
9AM wake up(he has to get 12 solid hours sleep just like his daddy)
up playing for an hour or so(mommy gets coffee time)before first bottle, so 10:00- 6oz.
Back to nap after being up for 2-2.5 hours(11:30-Noonish)
6oz bottle when he wakes. followed by a food pouch between 3 and 4pm.
naps after being awake about 3 hours(anywhere from 4-6pm his second nap will start)
After he wakes, 2 pouches, bath(every other evening due to dry skin issues), 6oz bottle. Sometimes he needs to play a little bit before bed. Bedtime normally between 8-9pm.
Note: I didn't include play time or activities really. Lol too much to write it all down. Also, no sleep training here. This is 100% his schedule. He sleeps in a Moses basket in our bed. It has helped us Soooooo much. He didn't sleep his first 5.5 months. I finally feel human again.
