Infertility

Clomid and IUI (Late April Early May)

Good Morning Ladies and Happy Thursday,

I went for my second consult yesterday and my doctor suggested starting with 50mg of Clomid and then IUI following!!

Any suggestions!

The only tricky part is my husbands schedule, he travels so much so we are not sure how the timing would work BUT he said if the timing doesnt work then at least we know how I respond to the clomid.  If the timing doesnt work we will then go with freezing his sperm in order to make it work!

Other than that I am hopeful this would work even with the percentages of success being low! My #s all are better than a year and a half ago, so hes very please! We are not sure why everything looks better, but ill take it :) (i believe its me finally being off migraine medications, Dr says hes never heard of it being related, but anythings possible!!)

Any suggestions or success stories would be appreciated as we get psyched up for this crazy journey :)

Re: Clomid and IUI (Late April Early May)

  • Good luck to you!  Your RE's plan sounds like a good one.  Freezing sperm is a good option for husbands who travel frequently and may not be available on the day of IUI (or egg retrieval if you're doing IVF).  IUI with clomid is a very common practice and may be all you need.  I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you get your BFP!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 Thank you! It appears that my insurance does not require steps to be taken so we may go wtih IVF to give us better odds! But i will see my RE next week to confirm. I just dont want to go through a possible 3 rounds of IUI with clomid and/or injections and then we have the issue with my husband not being around, I feel like it would be a loss cause and I dont want to take meds if not necessary. We can plan slightly better with IVF or so ive been told but we shall see anxiously awaiting my appointment next week.

  • I hear you on doing IVF due to better odds!  That's why DH and I decided to move on to IVF after 2 failed IUIs.  The emotionally rollercoaster is too hard for us, and we wanted to limit our disappointment.  Best of luck to you with whatever you decide!
