Hi all, we are team green and since I can't decide on a neutral look for baby's room we decided to wait to paint until after birth. Are there "safer" brands of paint that will get rid of the fumes quicker than others? Any help is appreciated thanks!
Lowes carries safe brands. Look for brands that are 'Zero VOC'. And always, always have good ventilation going while painting and let the room dry and air out for several days before allowing LO to sleep in the freshly painted room.
Color-house it probably the best non-toxic paint out there. You can order it through home depot. It's very pricey! Bher has a zero VOC paint that we used and it was a good compromise. Whatever you go with you might want to move the crib to another room for a few days after you paint, and open windows and turn the ceiling fans on to help any fumes dissipate.
We were told any of the zero-VOC indoor paints would be OK bc with those, the solvents that are normally released while drying are not there or are there in very, very small quantities.
Someone told us about Benjamin Moore Natura which is zero-VOC and asthma and allergy friendly, but that one is pretty pricey though so we're just using a zero-VOC Behr paint from Home Depot and running an air purifier we already have at home to help with the fumes.
Any of the zero VOC ones are good, we were recommended those when we painted LO's crib. They also sell milk based paints for nursery but that runs pretty steep for price
