Follistim side effects

I had this bad ringing in my ears. i called pharmacist and he said no but i googled some things and it seemed to be a side effect. also i am bleeding a little today.. I just started the shot last night. I am having insane anxiety.. like i don't know if i can go through w this but if i do stop.. is it dangerous to randomly stop follistim or to do the shots and stop once i go for my u/s wed.? i think this is too much for me.   scared that will be even more dangerous tho

Re: Follistim side effects

  • I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time with your treatments @runner76.  Ultimately I think you just need to decide if this is something you really want to do.  Everything can cause side effects, especially all the anxiety you are feeling.  If you decide to do IVF you must have faith in your doctors, and if you can't find a way to relax your mind and body through this, it just may not be the right time for you.  Please call your clinic and seek advice.  I sincerely hope you find peace.

I have noticed several posts from you filled with anxiety and you have received pretty good advice from fellow members. I believe many of us here have taken Follistim and each one of us can share our side effects or lack thereof once we began stimming and you will find that every response is different. For me, I had zero side effects to any of the medications I was taking for my IVF cycle which included Follistim.  I completely understand your anxiety but I highly recommend you speak with your RE before you go any further. I asked many questions and inquired about side effects before I came to the conclusion that IVF was the right decision for me. Adding stress to an already stressful process is not beneficial to you or your body. Please seek the help and support you need to make informed decisions on your journey. Good luck
  • I agree with @wifeinraleigh28 and @Jerseygirl856 I have taken follistim as well and bad zero side effects other then hot flashes lol. I would def sit down and think about if this is the right step. Every medication has side effects but you can't stress yourself out worrying about them. I feel being on this forum has helped me be less stressed in my life. I wish you good luck in your journey.
  • thank you all so much.. it helps to hear this stuff .. does anyone have info on what the cancer coorelation is?
  • Like @ultratomato and @Jerseygirl856, I had zero side effects from follistim.  I felt a little bloated because I produced a bunch of follicles, but that's kind of the point.

I feel like side effects are a small price to pay for getting my baby, but that's just me.

  • I think its scary cause I have a child with my ex and am so scared of something happening to me and leaving her.  I didn't think of this till I started doing this now. and seeing all the consents
  • I'm sorry, runner, you're having this tough moment. :(But this seems to happen pretty often in women taking the stim. I don't know much as for the ringing in the ear effect but here are once you should be also aware of.
    More common
    • Abdominal or stomach pain that is severe
    • bloating
    • diarrhea
    • severe nausea or vomiting
    • stomach or pelvic discomfort, aching, or heaviness
    • weight gain that is rapid
    Less common
    • Heavy non-menstrual vaginal bleeding
    • redness, pain, or swelling at the injection site
    • unusual tiredness or weaknes
So I suppose your bleeding IS one of the effects you're facing, hun. I would call the doc and ask him as for how your symptoms can be soothed. But definiftely this is not a good idea to give it up without a proper consulting. Doing this you can do worse for your treatment plan. Take care, dear, praying for you to feel better. <3
