It's been awhile so any suggestions will help!

Good morning ladies! I couldn't find a post on this so I hope I didn't miss it.  But my little girl is 7 so it's been awhile since I have had a kid in diapers.  With diapers comes diaper rash cream. My son became so red this last week and I would love suggestions on what creams you all use. Not feeling like the one I have here is doing anything.  I have a & d at daycare.  Give me the good and the bad I don't care.  I'm sending my husband to get somthing different later. Thanks in advance!

  • Desitin works great for us. We let LO air dry for a couple minutes after changing then apply it. Works like a champ :)

  • I use desitin too.

We use the babies ur us version of A&D. We've tried Vaseline, desitin, and the honest company cream and the A&D is the only one that works for us. We slather on a ton every diaper change.
  • We use Aquaphor. It's a little pricey but it works great!
  • We use destine as well with every diaper change. Works well for us!
  • Bag balm!!! No joke any rash disappears between two diaper changes. It's not medicated so I'm not sure how it would do up against a yeast rash. But it's chock full of lanolin and it helps tremendously.
  • Butt Paste! I haven't had the best luck with Desitin but Butt Paste does the trick!
  • I second the butt paste - tried all the others with my first baby, but nothing worked as well so I stuck with Boudreaux butt paste this time around. I also don't like the smell/greasiness of the others.
My first also needed the anti fungal cream at one point - our dr gave us a tube that cleared her up in a day or two.
  • Vaseline! Doesn't burn, super cheap, and day cares (in my area, could totally be a non-issue in your area) typically don't need a doctors note to use it like they do for otc creams.
  • We use the green butt paste and coconut oil.

  • We use aquaphor at every change and if any rash does occur we use Triple Paste.
  • Thank you so much for your feedback ladies! I tried a day of aquaphor and it didn't help at all and a day of destine for a day and it did nothing as well. I sent my husband to the store for butt paste and he came back with baby magic. At first I was mad but after using 1 time I can already see some relief on my poor baby's butt! I didn't even think of coconut oil!  I have a while jar of it and use it for everything!!! Thanks again everyone :)
  • I use Butt Paste in the yellow tube and we also use the Butt Paste rash spray.  @BarrettJ89 recommended it and it has been a life saver! When DS got a pretty bad diaper rash, before I was able to get out and buy some Butt Paste, I used Vasiline and it helped quite a bit in just the 24 hours I used it, until I could get the other stuff.
  • A&D with Butt paste.
  • Boudreax butt paste (not sure correct spelling at moment) clears my daughter's rashes and keeps them away.
  • Also, if the rash keeps coming back try switching diaper brands. We had to do this once as a particular brand gave him an awful blistered rash. Switched back to our regular brand and it was gone within a day!
  • Triple paste is what we use. A small amount goes a long way.
  • When you wipe just make sure he isn't still damp when you're diapering him. That goes a long way towards avoiding an issue altogether.
  • We uSe destine but when that fails and the rash is really bad we use calmoseptine. You have to ask the pharmacist for it but it is amazing and works magic! I didn't know about it until DS1 had horrible diarrhea around 15 months. It was one of the best kept secrets for babies IMO.

  • We use the Kroger version of Desitin. If nothing is working, it might be the diaper. CVS brand diapers gave our girl a horrible rash, and no amount of cream was helping. As soon as we switched to Pampers and Huggies, the rash went away. I have a friend that swears by the Honest Company diapers. She says they're the ONLY ones that don't break out her LO.
  • My son (16 months) breaks out in a blistered diaper rash any time he has something with higher acidity (spaghetti sauce, oranges, etc). We tried Desitin (regular and max strength), A&D ointments, off-brands, and Boudreaux's. Boudreaux's was the only one that helped. The diaper rash spray made by them seriously works. We spray it on after every poop and before he goes to bed.
Even better than the Boudreaux's butt paste, we would cover his hiney in Vaseline. It helps protect the skin and also heal it. If the trash doesn't heal, I'd suggest trying a different brand of diapers. Huggies gave my daughter what looked like a chemical burn. It was awful.
  • SO glad someone recommended calmoseptine! I use Butt Paste too, but when LO's rash is persistent, calmoseptine is the only thing that works. It will clear up a bad rash in 1-2 days. That stuff works miracles! It's not for rashes or specifically for babies so people don't really think of it. It's just a standard moisture barrier. My pedi recommended it, and I haven't looked back since. Seriously...try it!
  • Thanks ladies! I'm going to see what he looks like.after daycare today. I might do some vasaline and coconut oil at bedtime. We haven't switched diapers or anything so not sure what is going on.  And the only thing he gets to eat is breastmilk since he is only 15 weeks. I hope it clears up soon. My poor little guy :(
