TW(loss mentioned) Scared and worried/spotting

Anybody who has had spotting/bleeding during weeks 9 and 10 and go on to have a healthy pregnancy?

This is my 3rd. First pregnancy was totally textbook perfect. I have an almost 6yo.  2ND pregnancy ended in a loss at 5 weeks. That day, I woke up and had spotting. By 11 am my spotting was full blown cycle.  Of course this time, I had a little brown spotting in the morning and dissipated throughout the day. Only when I wiped.  Then the next day, Sunday, around late afternoon I had a bright red blood when I wiped. My nurses don't seem too concerned and my ob will call later today, Monday. It seems to have only been red that one time. But I'm also freaking out since my nausea seems to have gone away a well. Although not too bad to begin with. Also very aware of every little twinge amd ache but I don't think it's necessarily cramping.  Normal, it's 130 am I'm hungry pains.

Talk me through its because I don't have many that know I'm expecting and might understand.

  • Sorry my experience of spotting starting at 10w did not end up good. FX that everything is ok. I would your ask OB for an ultrasound.

  • I don't have any experience either. I have always heard that bleeding during pregnancy is not good. When I have talked to friends and stuff over the years I have people who swear and declare that they had blooding throughout the entire pregnancy and had a healthy pregnancy and a healthy child.

I personally would hope for the best and not worry. Worrying is not a good thing to do for you or baby's health. If the doctor pulls HCG or something it will give you amore definitive answer. So stay calm until then?

  • I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope your OB calls soon and you can get some peace of mind about what's going on

  • I'm so sorry you're going through this. Like @m6agua I went through a similar situation at 10 weeks and it didn't end well. I also lost all my symptoms at 5 +2 and had 2 great scans at 6 and 7 weeks with this pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different and spotting can mean one thing in one pregnancy and something different in another. Hang in there. I hope your Dr brings you in for a scan and you see a healthy 10 week fetus!
  • In my first pregnancy, I spotted at 14 weeks and I now have a 12 year old. It was also a bit more than just a spot, but not enough for a period.
  • No experience but I hope this turn out ok! Hopefully your OB will get you in for an appointment soon.

  • I had spotting with my first daughter's pregnancy quite a few times.  For a few days after sex, after ultrasounds or pap smear, after bowel movements, etc.  There is so much blood pooling in that region that it is easy to get a little scrape and bleed red blood.

With my second daughter I had actual bleeding (more than spotting) at about 3 or 4 different times over the first 20 weeks.  It turned out that I had placenta previa (the placenta was attached low near the cervix rather than higher up), but as baby and uterus grew, the placenta moved up and other than being scary because of the bleeding, it had no impact on the baby or the pregnancy.

I've also never been pregnant without cramping during the first trimester.

I hope you OB calls back soon and gives you some reassurance, but spotting can definitely be part of a healthy first trimester.

  • I'm sorry you're going through this, spotting is always scary. I've only had bleeding early in my pregnancies (TW -loss mentioned) - I lost my first at 7w, after multiple episodes of bleeding over the entire pregnancy; this time around, I had bleeding (full on bleeding and cramping to the point where I thought I was miscarrying again) caused by an SCH. I haven't had bleeding since, and the hemorrhage is shrinking. I hope you get some answers soon

Spotting is the worst! I spotted from weeks 4-7 and then again at week 10 with my DD due to a progesterone deficiency and a subchronic bleed. She is very happy 13 month old now :)

I have also spotted from weeks 5-almost 8 now with this pregnancy because of another small SCH behind baby B. I have had every color from brown to bright red, and have seen two perfect little babies on the ultrasound after every bad episode.

I know it's scary, and there is no way not to worry...but spotting doesn't necessarily mean the worst.

  • Thanks ladies.  Every time I try to reply to each of you individually it kicks me out of the group LOL

I talked to a nurse today and I have to go in for an hgc today and if the bleeding stays like it is, very light ant no cramping, etc, I'll continue with my original scheduled ultrasound on Wednesday.  Trying to rest and not worry overmuch.

FX'd all is okay. I know every pregnancy is different, but I had a Subchorionic (sp???) hematoma, SCH, with my first. I was pretty much convinced I had lost her. I had a bright red bleed around 8/9 weeks and then weeks of brown bleeding. I ended up going in at 10w for another ultrasound expecting the worst, but ended up being DX with that Anyways, enough of my story, I'm hoping you have something similar going on. No matter what, it's still scary not knowing what's going on.

  • I had pink spotting that got progressively worse to include small clots at 9 weeks. US showed healthy heartbeat so dr said not to worry. Cramping is mild and hasn't gone away. Some light brown spotting today. Its very nerve racking. I feel like I just need to stay still and not move too much! We moved this weekend and I did a lot. Can being overactive cause spotting?
