  • @jolydan - very interesting! I was loosely interested in running a 5K in November or December, so that rule of thumb makes me rethink that choice. I think I'll use that time to build back strength and then shoot for endurance in 2017! :)

  • @sboston06 I don't know how competitive this thing is but fast walking could be a good cardio workout/prep for getting back in shape. But November/December in Boston (if your name is related to your area) brrrrrr.

  • @jolydan - yea I typically don't run to win any prizes :) I could always do a run/walk combo depending on how I feel. December can go either way in the Boston area....sometimes 20's and sometimes 60's lol!

  • @PinkLady2015 you made me laugh. I totally asked my CNM if I could have wine and sushi brought to me by a friend in the hospital after I had my first child.  I was disappointed that the answer was "no" and that there was actually a medical reason. (Blood pressure, I think? I don't remember the specifics.)  The smuggling and bathroom chugging image makes me chuckle. :)
  • @PinkLady2015 - We have a bottle of Pliny the Elder (difficult to find IPA that doesn't have much shelf stability) waiting for me when I deliver the baby. I was thinking of asking if I could bring it in too, but I know from working there (in med/surg, not L&D) that it's very much frowned upon to drink alcohol in the hospital. We did have a priest once who we allowed to drink wine, but that was the only case I've ever seen.

  • @PinkLady2015 @sboston06 our plan is to toast with some rosé champagne (in honor of our little girl) the moment we get home from the hospital! It may already be chilling in the fridge! Haha
  • @PinkLady2015 my mom already has wine smuggling plans for when this baby is born. Hallelujah for my sneaky mom!
  • When I had my son my mom brought me a blizzard from dq and a turkey subway ( I didnt eat cold lunch meat preggers) was amazeballs!
  • @givemepenguinss that is seriously one of the things getting me through a (mostly) booze free pregnancy. Especially since the beers they recommend are dark heavy ones, which are my favorite. Once baby is here, my breastfeeding medicine will be beer. Nommmmsss

  • I gained 40 with my first and was one of those people that did NOT lose due to nursing. I held onto every pound after initially losing 20 within a week after birth. It took until he weaned and I started exercising hard to lose it. SO, this time I am much more aware and have been staying much more active. But there still may be nothing i can do. You can't severely diet while BFing or risk losing your supply, and I had a hard time exercising sufficiently while nursing - scheduling workouts for right after a nurse or pump session for comfort and being so darn tired all the time. Once he weaned it was like FREEDOM! DOn't compare your bodies to others, though - everyone is different and the cute bump girls now may be like me and still have 20 lbs of baby weight 1.5 years later, and it may fall right off of you.

Yeah f**k everything I said about losing weight. Let's just drink a lot. How sober does one hypothetically have to be in order to breastfeed?
Apparently the best thing to do is breastfeed while you drink because it's not in your system yet  ;)
Breastfeeding in public without a cover WHILE drinking alcohol?! Challenge accepted!
Do it and get ALL of the stares!
  • i can't wait for a strongbow cider!!!!! Been having mad cravings for one and I'm not even a big drinker to begin with!
  • @BostonBaby1 yes! I already told everyone that I want a hot pastrami and swiss brought to me immediately, my favorite Jewish deli is like 6 blocks from the hospital I'm delivering at so unless it's in the middle of the night, it's happening! I have also requested steak and eggs from my favorite brunch place so I'll have options haha.
  • Sushi!!!!!! I want sushi! Maybe not right after but ASAP! Haha
  • The rarest steak imaginable. And eggs Benedict with homemade hollandaise
  • Mmm strawberry margarita yes please!!

  • I was wondering how there was still discussion in this thread..I see it's pretty off topic. ;-) I'm thinking Jimmy John's postpartum this time. My chiropractor is attached to one and I smell it every time I go in. Last pregnancy I was staying fit and eating healthy, trying to follow a certain diet. I was dying for Culver's and apparently wouldn't indulge myself while pregnant, so that's what we got coming home from the hospital. Haha. Pregnant me now does not know where I found the will power.

  • Mango margarita on the rocks with sugar on the rim, corona light with lime and a beach vacation lol that's what I'm craving!
  • For awhile I was saying my first meal PP would be a Costco hotdog.  Now that I'm eating those again I'm not sure.  Maybe chicken fingers and fries from Long Horn or Aussie Cheesfries from Outback.  I've had both during pregnancy but they're some of my favorites, so more of a treat like @stellaluna14 said.

As for drinks a watermelon margarita from Long Horn or Citizen Cider are at the top of my list.  I did also pin directions for homemade strawberry lime sangria the other day that looks very refreshing in the July/August heat.  Decisions decisions...

  • I'm my brain, I'm having sushi and wine in the recovery room. I'm a FTM so I don't know if this is a pipe dream. Are they going to let me throw back a glass?

I was one hell of a sneaky teenager so I figure I can do it regardless of whether or not I'm allowed. But given that I'm going to be a 34 year old new mother, I'd rather not sneak around like my 16 year old self.
  • @jlmartinez517 I had to find that on pinterest as soon as I saw the picture. Get in my belly!!
