Baby Dropped?

Those of you who are early May, when did you feel the baby drop?
Those of you who are like me and late May / cusp of June, has your baby dropped at all?
(im just about 32 weeks now.)

Baby has definitely dropped over the past 2 days, pelvic pain is definitely worse. But definitely nothing that is anything like contractions or anything of the sort. So i think shes just gotten lower. Have any of you felt this? I have the midwife in about 5 days from now, Would you be concerned or wait til the appointment? Obviously a FTM here.

I have SPD and i go to PT twice a week and my PT definitely confirmed baby has dropped somewhat since Tuesday when i saw her last, and that my pelvis was a lot worse because of it.

I wouldn't necessarily be concerned. I'm 33 weeks and while I've felt more pressure, I think that it's normal around this time since not everyone will drop at the same time. If it really starts to bother you over the weekend, you can go to L&D, but I would probably wait until my appointment.

Eta: It's hard right around this time because so many things are happening at once, it's hard to decipher what warrants a trip to L&D versus what is normal. If you are concerned, definitely go to L&D. If it's just uncomfortable, I'd wait until the appointment and do what you can to make yourself comfy.

  • I'm due May 16 and I think my baby dropped early Monday moring. I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible back and hip pain. When I woke up the next morning, I could breathe easier and it seemed like it she wasn't crowding my ribs as much. Saw the dr the following day and he wasn't concerned since I hadn't been having routine contractions
  • This all sounds normal to me. Just because baby has dropped doesn't mean you'll go early.

  • As your baby settles lower and lower and your hips stretch apart, some degree of pelvic pain or pressure is unavoidable. If the pain is very bad, you may be unbalanced. I noticed an initial drop around 32 weeks, now at 36 he's dropped even lower and I have a near constant pressure/baby's falling out sort of feeling. The same thing happened with DS. I'm not having much pelvic pain this time though, because I've been seeing a chiropractor who practices the Webster Technique (pregnancy safe) to release tense round ligaments, keep my hips aligned and keep my piriformis muscles balanced/limber. It has made a world of difference in my comfort level between this pregnancy and last pregnancy.
  • Noticed a lot of pressure and the 'lightening' feeling at 33 weeks. Now at almost 36 weeks I've noticed my bump is much lower and the pressure is much stronger. Doctor hasn't started checking me yet but he did comment that baby was already very low. But he made sure to tell me that doesn't mean I'll be early.

  • Alright based on what you are all saying, It seems like maybe this was just like an intial drop. I do not think she is engaged, i mean i know shes not cause shes absolutely still transverse, she is just lower than she was. Pressure off my lungs, all the pain and feeling much lower, etc.

Though i still think i am going to start working on flipping her a bit! But i do think i will wait for my appointment in a few days. I feel okay with waiting until then, as i dont think its that severe like i dont think im going into labor tomorrow.
  • LO has definitely dropped. Today I feel an almost "pulling" feeling way down low.. I assume it's from the new position? Super uncomfortable.

  • I'm 33 weeks tomorrow, had my last Dr. appointment on Wednesday and she said my baby is head up, not in position at all. But she said it's not a concern until after 35 weeks - and even then not necessarily a big concern as the baby may continue to move around.
  • I think (and I could be wrong) that my LO is dropping but he's doing it very slowly. I'm actually thankful, since my midwife told me yesterday he might be sunny side up!
  • 37 weeks tomorrow and I don't think he's dropped at all. I can still feel pressure in my ribs and very little pressure down low. It doesn't mean much on it's own, anyways.

  • I'm 37+2 and I'm still not sure if she has dropped at all. I think I've felt pressure and H says my bump looks a little lower but I really have no idea.

It could be that baby has dropped/is dropping slowly. My LO literally was way up high one day (head down) and then when I woke up in the middle of the night to pee it was instant lightning crotch and it literally feels like he or she is head butting my cervix with every movement/step. I told my mom it feels like a 5lb sack of potatoes is just thumping on my cervix constantly.

I have no idea either. I don't think my first dropped until I was in labor. As of yesterday, I officially got lightening crotch, but I still don't feel any lower? If it's one of those things that happens and "you'll know" it probably hasn't happened for me.

  • Baby has been dropping since last week (I'm 35w now). More pressure on my bladder & hips. Feeling sore and achy down there!

  • yogahh Ugh that pulling feeling, I have that too.

I think with a bit of attempted flipping techniques i have somehow gotten her to raise back up a little bit. I have a bit less of that what i honestly think was like cervical pain and less of that weight on both hips. Though I do not think i have actually flipped her. I almost think shes like at at weird angle right now.
