My boss is the TW today! He decided last week he needs to take vacation before I go on leave! I have less than 6 weeks left... We have no help... I CANNOT work 7 days in a row of 12 hour shifts, I barely make it through a regular 9 hour day currently. I talked to him about taking a vacation back in January, when we still had the help! So now he decides that he will take it 3.5 weeks before my EDD. Crazy!!!
My OB! I keep seeing people talking about getting this tdap vaccincation and i thought "My OB will bring it up when its time" then I realized since I'm due May2nd and *everyone* seems to be talking about this I should have known by now right?!
I called my family doc to ask about it and she says I go to her to get it done and not my OB. Shouldn't someone have told me though? I haven't seen my family doc since I started seeing my OB, I'm a FTM *and* I'm not from NZ so I don't really know what standard procedure is here. I just feel like someone should have at least mentioned "Oh you should get in contact with your GP to get this shot done." What else have I been missing out on?! Maybe this one is on me and I'm just being dumb. I don't know.
I don't like my OB that much really...shes so cold. I don't want to change so late in the game though . . . Costs too much to change.
I got a bill for my rhogam shot- $500. The shot was $450 and the L&D "services" I received was $3xx. Insurance adjusted it to $499. WTF? Did anyone else pay this much for their shot?
Twatwaffle award goes to my husband. I seriously don't understand or trust his common sense, and his lack of problem solving skills makes me nervous. Case in point: at the zoo over the weekend, he takes our son to the men's room. Son puts soap all over his hands but then they realize none of the sinks work. Hub LITERALLY has son rinse his hands IN THE TOILET. You know, of a men's public restroom adjacent to a children's zoo barn. EWWWWWWWWWW! I can think of about 10 solutions that would have been better than telling our son to wash his hands in a toilet. (Including using the water bottle in the backpack hub was carrying....). Lord, give me patience with this man. He is so hot (!), and very smart but where is the common sense?

Thats stupid, and I feel the same way! At my appointment a month ago, I asked about the TDAP shot and my doctor was like "Oh, you haven't gotten it yet? Yeah we can do that today." Not only had I not gotten yet, but literally nobody at the entire practice had ever even mentioned the shot. Ever. I had to learn about it at my hospital tour and on the internet.
My TW is this stupid stomach flu I got! Starting feeling off Saturday and went to L&D and I had contractions every 2 minutes, and eventually (once they calmed down), I was told I had an irritable uterus. Puked my dinner from Saturday night just as I was supposed to leave the hospital Sunday morning. Stayed longer. Slept all day Sunday. Minimal diarrhea yesterday, and a whole lot of fun today. Now, bleeding hemorrhoids. Two days of not working when I have 3 reports to write so I can call it a day and be on mat leave for 6 months. Ugh...I just want to feel better to sort of enjoy the last little bit of this pregnancy!
My TW are the people who feel that the carwash DH and I own is their own personal dumping ground for garbage they don't want. I'm tired of the garbage collection coming through Monday morning and all the trash cans are overflowing by Monday afternoon. So far we've had a full-size leather desk chair dumped, crockpot lids, baby baths, bags of yard lights, cat supplies, numerous bags of clothing, etc. We even watched one guy fold a car mat into a burrito shape, full of junk, and dump it. How do people live like this?!
E@Kurrant my PCP won't even see my while I'm pregnant. Everything has to go through my OB. It seems weird to me that they wouldn't tell you where to go to get your TDAP. From what I've read it's a somewhat new practice to have you get the shot while pregnant. I had DD last May and they didn't give me one till after I delivered and that was only because I needed it for school.
My TW this week is my healthcare provider's Behavioral Care unit. I see someone there currently for medication management and had been getting therapy through my workplace's employee assistance program, but I have limited sessions there and my schedule wasn't working out for when that therapist was available. So, I wanted to a therapist through my main healthcare provider because that would be easier; looked one up on their website and found one I liked and called to make an appointment. Apparently, you have to get a referral to see on of their therapists, AND I can't personally choose one I'd like to see - it has to be the one they specifically refer you to. This was all found out through a convoluted set of phone calls to various people because yes, let's make someone looking for mental health care jump through as many hoops as possible. That won't up their anxiety or anything at all.
And a mini-TW from Easter - I was talking to MIL and AIL about how my parents were on a trip helping my grandmother clean out her house so she can move into assisted living sometime later this year (grandma's choice; she'll be 98 in the fall). MIL asked where my other grandmother was living. Yeah, my grammy passed away two years ago. MIL was at the funeral. Thanks for remembering.

I cant believe your OB didn't bring this up!! you were able to have it as soon as your were 28 weeks, my MW did it then!
Go to your GP, because its a vaccination during pregnancy its free. I know you are with an OB because your hubby prefers it and that totally sux! Call your GP first thing, get an appointment, you only have to see the nurse, and get the shot. Have you had your flu jab as well? You can get that at the same time, and its also funded.
ETA i'm the other kiwi here, so feel free to PM me with any questions! I cant believe your OB is that slack!

I've booked my shot for tomorrow morning with a nurse at my GPs office. I'm 36w 3d now so I'm glad it dawned on me today to get onto this. I'll see if I can get them to do the flu shot while I'm there since we are coming up on fall and winter.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I'm currently studying to be a counselor and it's ridiculous some of the things we hear clients have to go through for services. It's not fun on our side either. I'm just glad I'm currently at a clinic that doesn't deal with insurance because they are just a pain. Please don't give up on finding a good counselor! Hopefully you find one that you click with and works with your schedule! I know from personal experience as a client it can be a challenge. Good luck! It's definitely worth it.
My tw for the day/week are my DH's co-workers. They told him a month ago that they wanted to throw a baby shower for us at his work place. Which I mean, it is a nice gesture. They did NOT even tell him a date or a time or anything when they told him about it. Now fast forward to now. I have to go to the doctor every Tuesday and every Friday from now until baby gets here for NSTs. I also work full-time so I also have to make up any time that I miss from work. So he finds out Monday that they had set the date for this Friday at 1pm. I told him that I could not do that b/c I had a doctor appt at 1:15 for the NST and then I had a back to back appt with the actual OB doctor after that. He told his coworkers that I would not be able to attend. They then got all pissy about it saying that they had told him about it a month ago, etc. When yes they did tell him about the idea a month ago, but they did not set a date until the other day. Showers are great and it's a nice thing for them to do. However, don't get mad at me and/or DH for your lack of planning and your assumptions that people can drop whatever they are doing at a moment's notice. Life does not work that way. It's a nice gesture, but I'm NOT canceling my NST and/or doctor appts just to attend a shower at the last minute. I halfway wish I could tell them that b/c it made me really mad that they got mad at us when they are the ones who waited until the last minute to inform us of the date and time. From what I understand they are still going to have it on Friday, but DH will be the only one of us attending.

This! Same here, no one at my doctor office ever mentioned it. The only reason I even knew about it was from reading the papers in my intro packet I got from the very first appt when you meet with the nurse. That and I had read from the internet. When I went in to get my Rhogram shot I asked them when I was supposed to get the TDAp shot and the nurse was like you didn't get that last week? And I was like no. No one ever mentioned it to me which is why I'm asking. I've never heard of having to go to your GP to get the shot though. I guess doctors do different things in different countries though.

Nooe even here thats weird. My MW gave me both that and the flu jab so I don't think irs normal. The nurse at her OB practice should have been able to. Its probably just faster to get in with a nurse at a GP practice than with the OB.

I'd say I've had a good experience with this OB practice with the exception of a couple things, but doesn't it suck when this kind of thing happens and then we're just stuck sitting there like "What else have you forgotten to tell me!?"

My doctor wasn't able to give me the TDAP because apparently there's a special certification that the office needs before they can administer it and they hadn't gone through the process yet. He said it was stupid, since they can give flu vaccines and other needle-administered drugs, but that's the way it was. I had to get mine at MinuteClinic.
I'm a TW!! So Monday it snowed. I decided to use my remote starter for my car, but for some reason it wasn't on my key ring. So I used the spare starter. 10 minutes later I walk out of the house with my lunch bag and the spare starter...and left my actual bag containing my house keys, car keys, wallet and cell phone in the locked house. Did I mention it's snowing hard? Cause yeah. So then I decide to check the windows to see if any of them are unlocked so I can climb in. Did I mention I'm 36 weeks pregnant??? Because apparently I forgot about that fact as I'm checking windows. Eventually it dawns on me that I need help off the couch at this point, and clearly there's no way in hell I'm hoisting my ass through a window. So I truck off down my street to knock on doors to find a phone. Eventually find one and call my husband (NOT HAPPY WITH ME). He has to drive home in the snowstorm to let me in...so I'm waiting in the car, and it shuts off because it was remote started. I reach into my pocket to pull out the starter to start it again...and realize that it's attached to a car key. That I could have used to operate the car that I was sitting in. Yeah. Could have either a)gone to work and dealt with this later, or b)driven to my husband's work so he wouldn't have had to leave. BUT, I couldn't call him and tell him not to come home at this point, since I still didnt' have a cell phone or a house key and the person whose cell I used had driven away. I'm so awesome. Right around this time a thought pops into my head: "Hey, I think it's my birthday. Yup, it is. It's my birthday." So I sat there, and when he got home I confessed my sins and told him that I have The Dumb, and it's a real thing, and I promised it would get better once baby arrives. I could tell he was trying not to be annoyed with me since a)aforementioned birthday and b)carrying his brain-cell-sucking child, but I definitely complicated his day.
@Aquinna82 I'm sorry that happened to you, but your story totally made my day and sounds like something I would do! I hope your birthday got significantly better!!!
I think TW's are people who get involved in something that has absolutely nothing to do with them. Then persist in joining in and commenting on something that they have totally misunderstood, to try and make u feel like a TW. I hate that people try and make you feel crap.... Especially when they know you are pregnant, and that you could take things more personally than normal, and when they are also pregnant!!!!!!
