Infant car seat

Which car seat is everyone planning on using? Right now we are registered for the Graco snugride click connect 35, but I keep looking at the Chicco keyfit. I know it is top rated. It's also more expensive (so is the base) and heavier. DH and I both think it feels more comfy though due to the extra padding. We are trying to consider everything since there will be times where we will be carrying 2 for our twins.

We did a lot of research and Graco has had more recalls over the years. One of which they tried to hide and the company had to pay a huge fine. If there is anything you want to shell out money for on your little one, it would be safety. I'd go with the key fit.

When we looked at them in the store we found that the Graco was much more difficult to get in and out of the base. We loved the chicco keyfit and that's the one we put on our registry.

With my first two we had a Graco Snugfit 35, or something like that. It has since expired so we will have to get a new one with this babe. But we are going with the lightest (that's still considered safe). My biggest complaint was that snugride was huge and sooooo heavy. It almost got impossible to drag it around at the end of them using it.

I also have the graco 35 on my list. Since it's highly rated for preemies and is lightweight I think that is what we are going with since we have two also.

We had the graco with our first and I disliked it so much that we got the chicco this time around-- that being said, they're both fine-- but personal preference. I didn't like the buckle or straps on the graco and the chicco feels much more substantial to me.

We had a Baby Trend something or other for DS. We'll use it again for #2. We picked our seat based on the handle. It's a triangle and is so much easier to carry.

We used the Chicco with our first and will be using it again. It wasn't what I planned on, it was a gift, and I surprisingly really like it.

Britax BeSafe....I think that's what it's called. Used it for DD, no accidents and only 2 years old so using it again.

We had a Peg Perego 30/30 (now discontinued) for DS. It expires in Jan, so I got a Chicco KeyFit for this one.

You are going to want the infant bucket seat. It's so much easier to tote around the baby in the car seat instead of having to take them in and out of the car seat every time you get out of the car. Especially since babies sleep a LOT (a lot of times the car ride will put them to sleep) so it's easy to just take the bucket seat out with the sleeping baby. Plus, when the weather gets colder you can bundle them up safely in the bucket seat (hat, blanket over the clip, etc) and take them out instead of having to put a coat on them after you take the baby out of the car.

We're doing a convertible car seat right from the start. It's a less popular choice, but it's right for our family. I hate, hate lugging those car seats around, plus I live downtown with lots of walkable stores/bank/post office/grocery etc. so won't be using the car seat as much as folks in suburban and rural areas. We also live in a tropical climate so the bundling up isn't a factor, either. I also invested in a cool mesh carrier for baby wearing.

I like our keyfit, however it is harder to install than my other seat. I found it concerning when the grandparents hadn't done it right and didn't have the strength to really get it tight. We install carseats now to avoid that, but keep that in mind if you get the keyfit. We used it right away with our now 16 month old and it is great. However, this time around I will be getting an infant seat bc three kids three and under might prove to be challenge out of seats when going into places.

@squishy0511-I went straight to a convertible with my dd. Everyone told me I would wish I had gone with an infant but I'm glad I didn't. Babies aren't supposed to be left in car seats to sleep (outside of a car) and leaving them in goes against recommendations. I wore baby in stores and then it also gave me room to shop without limitations in cart space.

Maxi cosi all the way! They can be a bit pricy but the are not only really safe and well built, but extremely cute and trendy. I had one with my last baby and I now have one for this little babes...

The risk of asphyxiation has to do with the angle of the car seat while not properly installed in a car. Yes, keeping an eye on baby can help prevent but it does not take the risk away. There are many articles in the journal of pediatrics pertaining to this very issue.

We also went with the Chicco Keyfit 30 system. We just bought it over the weekend! I joined Consumer Reports to research baby stuff and it had a high score from them. I thought the price was pretty reasonable, we bought the whole set (one big box that contains the base, carrier, and stroller), and got it on sale for $250. The regular price at Target was $300. That seems fair to me since it covers what would be two major purchases otherwise, a stroller and carseat.

Registered for the Graco ClickConnect 35 LX, we practiced getting it into and out of the base and the stroller and had no issues, plus I love the stroller that we can use with it (the Modes 3Lite).

We bought the Britax infant seat, and registered for the marathon click connect. The new britax click stuff looks so much easier to install!

We used the britax infant seat for my DH, and now use the marathon click connect. Love the click connect, super easy to install especially if you ever need to move it (we used it on a plane and switched it into a rental car too).

Unfortunately we had a basement flood and needed to replace the infant seat. I am leaning toward the chicco keyfit because I read it has a slightly smaller footprint in the car ... Will be testing it out first at the store!

We have the Britax b safe infant seat. I was happy with it, but it is on the heavier end of the market, so I'd probably look into something a bit lighter for twins.

It just makes my tummy hurt thinking about how much money that stroller costs so I *probly* won't force hubby to get it for me lol

we used the Britax bsafe w/ our son and will use it again with the new baby.

I hear nothing but good things about the chicco though, whereas I see articles all the time about Graco recalls. I'd go with chicco over graco simply because of that and they're more comfortable for baby. my son is in the car a lot so comfort was a key factor for us .
