TTC After a Loss

TGIF check-in!

Happy Friday everyone!

Let us have it, what are you up to?

For me... (child mentioned below)

I have a busy weekend of playing catch up from last weekend when we were away. I have done 9 million loads of laundry this week I think, and there is still so much more to get everything feeling settled again. It amazes me how just missing one weekend of doing the things we do can put you so far behind.

Other than catch up we have an open house for a pre-school to go to. We have been on a waitlist for 1.5 years which just seems crazy to me wondering he isn't even old enough to attend for another 5 months. I feel like when I was a kid we just showed up at some church basement pre-school and that was it? Maybe it was more in depth than that, but it sure didn't seem it.

Anyways, I hope you all have a lovely weekend, you deserve it!

Re: TGIF check-in!

  • Not too much happening this weekend. My DH will be coming back from his work trip today, he's been gone since Monday so we will probably just spend a lot of time together- he is traveling a lot this month...thankfully we are benched right now or I would be really annoyed by this! Tomorrow I am meeting an old co-worker of mine for brunch....she left our job after she had her 3rd baby to be a stay at home mom and I miss her a lot so it will be nice to catch up. She also has had 2 miscarriages so it will be nice to talk to someone who knows how I feel- and like I said she has had 3 kids since so also gives me hope. We also have a gift card to a restaurant that we got for our wedding that still has money on it (we got married August 2014 lol) so we might go there and finally finish it off.

The weather is really crappy here in Michigan- 30's and snow in April. Its supposed to be opening day for the Detroit Tigers baseball team but doesn't feel like spring at all. I'm definitely getting the itch to be outside- I want to ditch my winter coat and boots for good!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone

  • Loading the player...
  • I'm off today, so I'm going to ride with my DH to pick up my step daughter for the weekend.  Then tonight we are going bowling for a family fund raiser!
It's supposed to snow tomorrow, so think we might have a movie day or binge watch a new show on Netflix.
Then Sunday I'll probably stay in and do some laundry to get ready for the week!
Hope everyone has a fun weekend
  • Not much happening here this weekend! Today I'm going to finish up some marmalade I started yesterday. We have some friends coming for dinner, but we're eating leftover Trinidadian pumpkin stew so I don't have to do anything but make some cabbage paratha (North Indian flatbread stuffed with seasoned cabbage). We're going to play Pictionary afterwards.

Saturday and Sunday are wide open! I really don't know! I imagine we'll play some video games. Maybe we'll start a sourdough culture? Or try our hand at croissants again? They take about 16 hours total, so it's a commitment. Pretzels? You see, I'm very hungry and thinking about bread...

  • @BornReady that waitlist seems insane!  How do they book that fast?  Geez.

    @Spartanrd4
I am with you on the snow and weather thing - I am so ready to not have to deal with snow in the mornings.  Today we woke up to a couple of inches of fresh snow so I had to bribe myself to come to work by stopping for coffee and a scone.

@LCRbelle bowling sounds like fun!  I'm terrible but love it.

@reneeannemm it sounds like you make awesome food; I can't imagine dedicating that kind of time to croissants.

Tonight I think we're just hanging out with the fur babies, maybe play some video games or something.  We've both had a long week and I've had insomnia, so I think just letting us relax will help a lot.

Tomorrow we were going to clean the garage, but I think that depends on the weather some.  I'm also planning to bake some cookies and do some batch cooking to freeze - I'm thinking burritos and maybe some soup.

Sunday we're going to see DH's grandmother in the nursing home with his sister so that should be...sad?  Depressing?  I'm not sure what her actual diagnosis is, but she has dementia and frequently thinks I'm her granddaughter and has no clue who DH is.

I'm also going to try for my usual relaxing bath.  I have some bath bombs left still and we just got an air misting thing that makes the house smell good so I might move that into the upstairs for a bit.
  • I am so excited for sushi tonight! It's a new spot my friends found a while back and also H decided to go too! He hates sushi but is willing to give it another try :)

Saturday is house hunting all afternoon so fingers crossed we find something

Sunday I am shopping with my BF because her birthday is next week. I am so excited to just hang out and catch up and have fun with her.

  • @mandi135 My end goal is to be able to write something that is as seminal Mastering the Art of French Cooking - but VEGAN. It's hobby but it's also my all consuming passion: To spread joy through life affirming food.

“Cooking is all about connection, I've learned, between us and other species, other times, other cultures (human and microbial both), but, most important, other people. Cooking is one of the more beautiful forms that human generosity takes; that much I sort of knew. But the very best cooking, I discovered, is also a form of intimacy.”

  • @reneeannemm Those quotes are fabulous. I'm going to have to check out that documentary now. I love to cook, but I'm not inventive at all. I can follow a recipe and tweak it, though. I'm jealous of people who can make something unique or throw something together on a whim.

We have snow forecasted all weekend here @LCRbelle and @Spartanrd4 and I'm over it.

My Friday plans consist of getting my hair done! I had been putting off coloring because of being in the first tri before this last loss, so it will be nice to refresh. The gray is real, folks. I'm thinking of chopping some length off too, because why not?

Saturday...lunch to catch up with a friend. I suspect she may be pregnant but I'm ok with it, just preparing myself in case she has news.

Workweek starts on Sunday this time. Yuck.

I'm excited about this weekend! We are staying with my parents tonight and tomorrow I'm getting lunch/shopping with some good friends from home. One of them is my BFF and I've missed all of them so much! It's always so nice and relaxing at my parents' house. DD really enjoys them and likes to play with them, so I plan on taking along my yarn and hooks and catching up on crocheting while they keep her busy!

Sunday is a full day - playing piano all morning at church, then we have a special meeting (read: food!) Sunday night to get to know our new music pastor. I think he'll be great and fit in well with DH and the other pastors!

  • This weekend will be filled with relationship building with DH (I hope) and taxes (unfortunately). I also intend to sleep.

Next week is the last of the semester - then on to giving final exams and a bit of a break in the work schedule until the Spring term starts on the 10th. In the break I'll be catching up on all sorts of things - the therapist, dentist, naturopath, maybe the GP, and likely the hairdresser... at the very least.

  • Excited the hubs gets back tonight from a trip but not until late and then he is on call this weekend so we don't have any plans at this point. Everything is in flux when either one of us is on call.

I need to work on some crafts for a bachelorette party involving wine glasses, champagne bottles and lots of glitter spray paint. Lots of laundry. Dog park. Yoga. And most likely just trying to rest up from a rough work week. I have 2 really big cases this week that I'm stressed about and it's going to be probably another 80+ hour one so going to enjoy just being lazy and reading.

  • Excited for the weekend and the upcoming week! Just finished up my first AF post D&C and hope to start BD asap! I'm nervous and anxious and just praying everything turns out ok. Trying to remain optimistic and hopeful :)

Hubby and I just sold our house last week and are currently building a new one. They poured the slab today and I'm getting so excited! Can't wait to decorate! Pinterest has become a crazy obsession lol

    Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
  • I'm so excited for the weekend after working 12 straight days.  Tonight I plan on painting a second coat in the basement.  Saturday we are working with DH's dad to add the trim. It's nearly finished.  I'm so excited!  Sunday I teach Sunday school and plan to relax.

I'm 10 dpo but I'm afraid to test.  Especially since this would be the last month to have a baby before in 30. I know many of you ate over 30 trying for your first,  I just always dreamed of having two kids before in 30 and will be crushed not to have one (living).

  • Hey everyone :)

Not much my way. This week has worn me out for numerous reasons so I'm glad it's Friday.

I have zero plans outside of a manicure, Netflix, and laundry.
  • Sounds like most of you are going to have a relaxing weekend! I am so sorry for those of you still dealing with snow and cold. I am fortunate, we are having the most glorious spring weather right now. Sunny, warm and NO humidity!

Since we got the green light and I take my trigger shot tonight, BD is top of the agenda for Saturday and Sunday. This is new territory; until last night I had never had sex on doctor's orders!

My SIL is in the medical field and she is giving me my shot tonight, so we will probably hang with her and my brother for a bit.

Tomorrow night we go to a friend's house for dinner and game night, and other than that, we will chill out and watch The Masters (golf) and Star Wars since it came out on DVD and DH is obsessed. :)

  • I had a horrible influenza virus the last few days, fever (which FF didn't appreciate lol), chills, stuffy, achy muscles, cough, urg the list goes on. So I was essentially useless this week which means this weekend for me is going to be filled with cleaning, working out (if my body can handle it) and groceries/meal prep. By meal prep I mean prep my veggies for the week lol. But most exciting of all, I have a much needed hair appointment tomorrow! Wooohoo! It's a bonus that my hairdresser is a dear friend so it'll give us a chance to catch up as well.

@beff12 I also love the bernat blanket yarn! And the baby blanket yarn as well. Soooo cozy!

@iceandsnowflakes29 your weekend plans sound amazing! minus the laundry.

@dogmomwantinghuman I get it on the age thing. I always kinda planned to have my first at 25 and second at 27. Looks like that plan is out the window for me. Keeping FX for you!

@reneeannemm that first quote really resonates with me. I love it!

@crazypt2285 jealous of your sushi plans! There is nowhere to get sushi in my town (the grocery store doesn't count because grocery store sushi is the worst, in my opinion)

@mandi135 it's so hard watching a loved one experience dementia. I remember visiting my great grandmother when she was in the nursing home. She always thought I was my mother. In a sense I'm glad she was happy thinking I was my mom (who lived out of province), but it's so hard at the same time.

@LCRbelle bowling sounds like such a great time!

@catiecatp I'm glad for you to hear about relationship building with DH

@fivetimesnoluck horray for sex on doctors orders!

Sorry about everyone I've probably missed! Hope you all have a great weekend

  • @reneeannemm - that would be great - I'm also looking at classes locally - my gym membership has all classes included so I'm going at noon today. But I'm an introvert so if there are a lot of people it may not be a good fit for me (yep an introvert who lectures to 100-300 people on a regular basis...). I'd love to go back to hot yoga - but I'll have to do drop in cards during my WTO phases.

    @dogmomwantinghuman - woot - I'm glad you'll be doing some too.

@mandi135 - I love the Ta Ta Tamer II - but somehow I still hurt at the end of the run - it may be that it is time to replace them - and I'll take a look at the Ta Ta Tamer III. Thanks

  • @catiecatp I have a high impact sports bra by Under Armour. It zips up in the front and really holds those girls in place. I tried to find the link for you but apparently I can't find the bra online (I'll be devastated if they discontinued it, although they do have a similar one online currently). It works great for me for running or any other activity that would otherwise result in my boobs trying to attack me. I am a C cup though, but when I was pregnant I did get up to a D cup and it still held them down well. Also this bra is purchased based on bra size which helps a lot (instead of the small, med, large sizing of lower impact bras).
Good luck and I hope you find one that works for you!

  • @reneeannemm I believe they go up to a DD. J cup is a harder size to find I think in most stores/companies, which is BS. I bet though that a bra specific retailer would be able to get you all set up with a good sports bra. Ps. Boob size is nothing to be embarrassed about.

  • No need to be embarrassed, @reneeannemm I am quite short/small but still a 32E. I recently bought a Natori bra and it's been great for running, as well as my high impact cardio. I told the saleswoman I didn't want a uniboob.

Pricey, but like you probably know, at my bust size, I am used to forking over a lot for bras.

  • @catiecatp I have class cards for the hot yoga studio, but mostly I do Yin classes there (hold poses for 3-5 min, stretches me out since I'm a runner. I SUCK at Bikram!) I found I liked free classes better....more beginners and less stress. They had one at the public library when I lived in Atlanta. Any major city usually has them, try Google for free or pop-up classes maybe?

On call this weekend but only had to go out Friday night, yay! Prepping some enchiladas and maybe a chocolate cheesecake pie today if the phone stays quiet. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
