Successful Spotting

Had quite a scare today. It's my first pregnancy and I don't really have any female support, so I was terrified. Thought I'd share in case anyone else experiences the same thing. I went to the bathroom and the tissue paper was covered in pink/watery blood with few bright red spots. I wiped several times and waited a few minutes and went back, same thing. I panicked and drove straight to the doctor. Once I got there I went to the bathroom again and the spotting was worse with tiny clots and pieces of red tissue in toilet. By the time I saw the nurse I was in tears. She said it was because I had sex Sunday....ok lady. Whatever. I wanted to see he doctor, who luckily agreed and gave me another TV scan where we saw a heartbeat and good measurements and movement. WHEW! Blood has stopped now, just a little in some clear discharge that's stringy. Anyway, he said he couldn't offer an explanation, but that I most there is a lot of new blood vessels down there that are small and unprotected. He said coughing or sneezing hard could cause one to break. I told him I did have some pretty gnarly dry heaves this morning. Hopefully that was it. Hopefully I won't have to go through that experience again. Just wanted to share in hopes that it would help another FTM or spotter smile:

I had some spotting the other day after DTD. I knew it was going to happen by how uncomfortable it was. No sex for us for awhile.

I could very likely be from having sex on Sunday. I don't know why you are dismissive of that, it happens all the time.

I was dismissive of it because I've never had spotting 3 days after sex and also it just seemed like she was being dismissive of my concern. Its my first time being pregnant, so this is all new to me.

I had 5 days of period heavy bleeding at implantation and baby is doing just fine! Spotting or bleeding doesn't always mean the end.

Wow @Katemr1146 I would have been a nervous wreck. So glad I was able to see heartbeat today and next time I'll try not to freak out quite as much.

Honestly I thought I had gotten my period. Had no idea I was pregnant yet. I'm very grateful for that. I would have been a mess.

sorry but my experience with spotting has not been good. So if I see any I don't think anything would comfort me except for a progression of u/s to confirm growth.

I had spotting with both of my girls. Regular, a few days post sex or post ultrasound with my first. With my second I had quite a bit of bleeding(more than spotting) a few different times. Eventually I found out I had placenta previa, and they think that was the cause of the bleeding. This pregnancy I haven't had any spotting and it makes me worried because it seems so abnormal to me - which I know is crazy.

Spotting is gone but cramps are worse. No bleeding and I saw a heartbeat today, so I'm hoping all is well.

I had spotting after sex as well. It's pretty common, actually.

Spotting with this pregnancy (w6-7) and then two happy ultrasounds. Spotting with my daughter, and a successful pregnancy.

strangely enough, with my MMC I had no spotting, just a sad U/S.

I actually had spotting yesterday (the light brown color, similar to the beginning of a period) along with cramps and freaked out- this is my first pregnancy as well. The doctor assured me it's normal. I had actually had a stomach virus on Monday that they think caused me to bleed- and the brown discharge is a sign of old blood. I'm keeping an eye on things today as well but it can be so scary! I'm glad I'm not alone in the spotting. I called my older sister immediately and she had never experienced it so it made me all the more scared.

I had almost exactly the kind of bleeding/spotting you experienced. It was at 6w6d and lasted two days. I had an "emergency" u/s and saw a heartbeat and embryo measuring on track. I was worried because I didn't bleed with my other two (successful) pregnancies. However, the doc said its really common esp around 6-7 weeks, when the placenta is implanting. Glad you saw a heartbeat.

BTW- this has happened to SO many women that I know IRL. Mine was followed by a really strenuous half hour of trying to wrestle my preschooler into his pajamas and through his bedtime routine. He's as strong as a horse so it was really strenuous activity. The bleeding started immediately afterward. There's no way to know for sure, but I suspect I over exerted.

This happened to me today! I had not just had sex but sounds very similar to my symptoms. I freaked out. Doctor was able to get me in and said sometimes it just happens with all the changes going in. I heard a great heartbeat and saw the little beans hands waving to me! Such a relief!!

Good to know I'm not the only one! Like most of you, I wouldn't have felt any better unless I had the scan. I was totally prepared to go pay for a private scan if my doctor didn't want to do it! I imagine I'll be doing that anyway at some point. I'm grateful that even though we're military we got an early scan. But they'll be few and far between from here on out.
