What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): -anatomy scan on Wednesday!
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: -I'm just so thrilled and shocked to be able to say we are expecting a baby girl! I can't believe it! My husband comes from a family of boys! He had no sisters and this will be the first granddaughter!
Questions? -I feel like a lot of my anxiety with being PGAL will ease up after the A/s. Did that hold true for anyone? All of our genetic testing came back good so I'm hoping after a good A/S I will feel a bit of relief.
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Next appointment isn't for 3 weeks, but I am anxiously awaiting feeling movement. I feels pokes and aches sometimes, but I have no idea if they're LO or RLP or gas or something else.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I mentioned this on the Monday check-in, but I'm getting nosebleeds now. I'll pick up some saline spray to try to stop the cracking overnight. Spring break just ended, but that means only 6 more weeks until we're done! Summer is around the corner, ladies
Questions? Nothing I can really articulate well. I wish I knew if I was feeling baby or something else, but that's not really something that can be "diagnosed" over the internet.
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday? Halloween was always fun as a kid, but probably Christmas. Even after I stopped being religious, I love the feeling of family and warmth that surrounds that time of year. I like giving presents and seeing how people react to them, and I love the smell of a real tree. Thanksgiving has all my favorite foods, though...
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): I'm 99% sure I felt flutters this weekend. I'm looking forward to more consistent movement and the a/s in early May (but that seems so far away!)
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I have nothing big going on so I'm taking the opportunity to send out positive vibes for everyone having scans this week!!!
Questions? nope
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday? Christmas, hands down.
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): I have my anatomy ultrasound on April 21st. I will be 21 weeks then. I really can't wait first because I really hope baby is okay (I am high risk because I have Neurofibromatosis type 1, so they will be checking for fibromas in my baby's hearth and brain.) And also because I am really curious to know if I have a boy or girl, not that it matters but I feel that once I know I will be able to picture it more easily in my head... right now I still can't believe.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I have not felt baby yet and that makes me sad. Around week 16 I felt what I tought could be flutters but only a few times and nothing since then... so I most likely was not baby after all. It makes me sad.
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday? Halloween and Christmas are my favorites.
35 years old, TTC #1 Dec 28, 2011 PCOS, Hypothyroidism.
First IVF cycle June 5th 2015 --- BFP Miscarriage at 8 weeks
FET December 15th 2015--- BFP! First saw at 6w4d It's a boy!
Luciano Alessandro Maximiliano was born on September 3rd 2016
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): I'm not so patiently waiting for my anatomy scan on 4/19. It will also be my 20 week appt. I have not felt any movement as of yet and I really could use the reassurance.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I feel so excited for everyone finding out the sex. I found out with my first two, but since this is likely our last, we are doing Team Green. It's hard no to find out, but it's still fun to see everyone else's announcements.
Questions? Anyone have or had an anterior placenta? This is my third pregnancy, but first time with an anterior placenta. I think that might cause me not to feel movement until later on. It really is killing me. I try not to focus on it, but I feel like if I could feel something it would ease my nerves.
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday? Christmas. I love absolutely everything about it. The decorations, the food and treats, the possibility of snow, the get-togethers with family and friends. Some of my best memories are during the Christmas season.
@reesaXden I definitely feel like with each milestone in my brain, my PGAL anxiety eases, but I've never found it to be completely gone. Like at 12 weeks, I felt a bit better. After getting my genetic results, a little better. After hearing/seeing the baby and heartbeat at my 15 week appt, a little better. But for me, those tend to be short lived because I then find myself worrying about something new. It's annoying. I will say that I think it gets easier when you regularly start feeling baby move. It's like a daily reminder that things are still going "ok".
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
Looking forward to my anatomy scan, whenever it is!
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I've managed to gain 3 pounds in 2 days in spite of not eating more than usual (and not having gained in over a week). I'm sick of gaining in spurts and I'm sick of gaining a pound and a half every single time I walk for more than 10 minutes (you'd think it would have to be water weight and that it would come back off, but it doesn't...I don't get it).
Questions?
Who came up with this fruit/vegetable baby size scale? It makes no sense sometimes. I'm positive that some of the fruits are bigger than ones that come 2-4 weeks later.
It's not like I'm angry about it, but it bothers me. I'm having trouble visualizing my babies' size even using average measurements, so the visual was really helpful until I noticed how nonsensical it is at times.
I am definitely having daily movement so that is reassuring for sure.
Im just afraid there is like an underlying problem or something... I've had no red flags and baby has been "perfect" thus far but my PGAL mind is crazy.
Hopefully, each day will continue to get easier for us all.
@MojieJo I feel you on the scale issues. Sometimes I'm not even sure the Bump, etc., knows what the fruit/veg looks like! The lime really got me. The picture has them measuring across the long axis, but that's apparently only 1.6 inches. Those must be some little limes, or my grocery store is stocking behemoths! Plus, I'm pretty sure my little fetus in there is not spherical, despite the ease of calculation resulting from that assumption
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): My 20 week scan on April 14th! Also feeling the baby move on a consistent basis
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Around week 16 I started to feel increased sensations and little twinges/pokes which I thought might be the baby. The sensations have not increased in or gotten stronger so now its starting to worry me.
Questions? My bump seems to be at a standstill. For the last few weeks it looks exactly the same to me. Anyone else experience this too?
GTKY:What's your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving. I'm craving mashed potatoes now.
@jabreen You mean my babies aren't shaped like bouncy balls? I've been lied to!
Seriously, though, I know it's supposed to be a rough estimate, but it's not a very good one. Still better than Ovia's size comparisons, though. Exactly how big is a creme brûlée, anyway? You can make it whatever size you want!
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
anatomy scan anatomy scan anatomy scan
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I'm anxious to feel him move!! Somehow that would give me more reassurance than waiting the dreaded wait for appointments. I have an anterior placenta so it's been slow...
Questions?
Im still experiencing random stings/pulls in my vagina. Normal?
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday?
Probably christmas but I love any that involve fun decor and spirit
@mom2adoodle FTM here, so not sure if it's "normal", but I'm getting them, too, with no associated bleeds/cramps/etc., so I'm just trying to ignore them! Feels like what I used to get to start a period, so it's a bit anxiety-inducing, but it's been fairly consistent this whole pregnancy with no ill effects that I can see. (wow...that's a bunch of compound sentences today...)
@mom2adoodle and @jabreen I also experience the "stings" in my vagina from time to time. I asked my doctor if that was normal to have this early on, and she said it is totally normal. Although most women will complain about this when they are further along in their pregnancy, it can happen at any time. I heard it referred to as "lighting crotch" on another pregnancy board I came across.
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): ANATOMY SCAN. It's not for another 4 weeks.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I went in for a special ultrasound today to measure my cervix and evaluate changes to see if I needed a cerclage, everything is good and won't need it but I got to find out the sex and we're having a boy!
Questions? So after today's good results I finally felt comfortable enough to share my pregnancy to friends and extended family, only a handful of people knew besides both our parents and siblings. Most are so excited for us but the first thing some say is "well this time, take care of yourself, take it easy" as if my previous loss had anything to do with me not taking care of myself, it's so annoying. Has anyone else had this response? Am I wrong to be so bother by it??
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday? Hands down Christmas, my birthday is the day after and family comes together from all over the country. I love it.
I'm 29, husband is 30 Together since 2006 Married 01.17.15
Weeks/size: 17w3d; size of an onion, 5.1 inches What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Anatomy scan is on April 15th...so anxious! Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I am a FTM and I think that I've been feeling the baby move for the last week now...felt what I think is described as fluttering...for me, it has felt like gas bubbles or muscle twitches on one side, around where my uterus is supposed to be right now...I've also felt the twinges a lot but I am not sure if it's the baby moving or if it's growing pains.
I know it's normal because our organs and whatnot are getting pushed up as the baby grows but man, my digestive system is all messed up...heartburn is killing me right now...anyone besides me feel like they got lap band surgery and not able to eat the normal amount of food they usually eat? For the last week or so, I have not been able to eat a full meal, even when it has been something light like a salad. I don't typically eat large portions of food but right now I pretty much can only half or less of a full meal and if I try to eat more, I get sick.
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday? In the past, I would have said Christmas and it still is one of my favorite holidays but every since I started hosting it, Thanksgiving has become my favorite holiday.
Me: 34, Unexplained Infertility, Hypothyroidism (after being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and radioactive iodine treatment; taking Levothyroxine for hypothryoidism) | DH: 33, no fertility problems
@fiorip I'm sorry someone said something so insisntive. Those comments really sting. I had someone tell me "make sure your not carrying heavy objects this time, this little one is important." As if my last one wasn't? And in no way did carrying heavy objects cause my loss.
Weeks/size: 17! The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, if you are a Monty Python fan, or an onion of some size, if you go by the Bump's wacked out sizing system.
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Anatomy scan is... next week, I think. I should really figure that out. I seem to remember it was at 17w 6d because my doctor was going on vacation.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: With respect to what everyone is saying about milestones making you feel less anxious, I definitely have been feeling a lot less anxious since my last scans and genetic results all came in fine. I also think I am feeling less like I need to follow every crazy pregnancy guideline, because I did with my last pregnancy and it didn't make a difference. I love blue cheese and I am eating it. And not feeling too bad about it. I hope as people start going through their anatomy scans in the next month or so we all can breathe a big sigh of relief
Questions? Does anyone else feel like the people around you really don't give a crap that you are pregnant and maybe tired? I went home for a funeral this weekend with my Dad and Stepmom's family and my Mom was fighting for my time every second of the weekend, and my work could not stop contacting me for a minute. My family is Catholic and a funeral is a long busy process, plus my feet are swelling up like balloons and I am out of breath and exhausted, maybe lay off a tad? And maybe give some help with some of that heavy lifting (suitcase) if y'all are so concerned about my baby's well-being.
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday? I love Halloween and Christmas too, lots of decorating and festivity, but I really have always loved Thanksgiving best. Full of family, autumn colors, and comfort food. And pie
@fiorip my miscarriage happened right after I made a trip home (several states away), so when my grandfather died a lot of my family members were like, "you really don't have to come home." I found it a little insulting, as well. I think that it is totally insensitive and you have every reason to be bothered by it - as if it were your fault for "overdoing it," as if that had ANYTHING to do with what happened. I am sorry people do not take a moment to realize the correct response is to just be happy for you that everything is going so well!
What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Next appointment and Anatomy Scan in 2 weeks!
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Ugh, the stomach flu hit our house this past weekend. It started with DS, I think he might have gotten it from the nursing home that DH's Grandma is in. He had it last Thursday (and still isn't completely acting like himself again), DH got it Friday night/Saturday, then I caught it Saturday night/Sunday. What a nightmare, my son hadn't been sick yet other than a cold, I felt so bad for him, and now he is just so whiney all the time and doesn't seem to want to eat a whole lot. I wish I could make him feel better. Even worse though, DS gave it to everyone he came into contact with, my grandparents, DH's mom, my parents and brother.
Questions?: Anyone who had an anatomy scan done at a hospital or a facility other than your OB's office, were you able to find out the sex right away or did you have to wait for your OB to call you?
GTKY: What's your favorite holiday?: Christmas! I love everything about Christmas; the decorations, the food, the smells, spending time with family, everything:)
I'm assuming PGAL is pregnant gal, so I'm checking in. If I hopped on a board that I shouldn't have I apologize. I'm not fluent in bump language.
Week/Size: 15 weeks 3 days
What's next (milestones, appointments, something to look forward to): We have our 16 week appointment tomorrow and we are going to Stork Vision on Saturday for a 3D/4D gender reveal US.
Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I think I've felt baby, this is my 3rd so I should be an expert..Bahahahaha as if anyone can ever be an expert at being a mom/pregnant lady. It's a learning experience each and every day. I was hoping I would have felt baby move more, or at least be more certain that is what I felt. The flutters are so light and quick that by the time you've felt it the sensation has passed and you can't necessarily digest what it was.
Questions: What does GTKY mean? Get to know you?
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving food! I love the closeness of family and the start of the holiday season. Fall is such a beautiful season with the leaves changing and falling.
@danielle1290 you should be able to find out the sex at the us. The technician typically asks immediately if you want to know, then he/she will tell you.
@mom2adoodle I experience random twinges, aches, pains etc as well. As long as they are short lived (not constant for a couple days or more), and not accompanied by other negative symptoms they are typically nothing to worry about. Your body is stretching, and growing, and making humans...it goes through a lot.
@fiorip That's terrible. People can say such ignorant things.
@babyboyh92016 it's normal. I feel like I've been the same size for a few weeks. Some days I look bigger than others. Remember you have 9 whole months for baby to grow, they grow quickly...but not that quickly. Lengthwise it's only like 1/2"/week and early on they aren't putting on a lot of fat.
@LizC216 I think I had an anterior placenta with my first. I probably felt him around 20 weeks.
@MojieJo I agree about the scale. I always look at the fruit/veggie and grab my ruler to look at the measurements. Although I did like calling baby my little poppy seed.
@sarajuul PGAL stands for Pregnant After A Loss. It took me awhile to figure that out as well as many other pregnancy lingo. I do love Pregnant Gal though! PGAL can have a double meaning ☺
@SaraJuul PGAL means "pregnant after loss", which is not so say you aren't welcome here, but a lot of our posts and questions will be related to the specific anxieties and challenges faced by those of us who have had a hard road to now.
I am grateful to say I have not experienced this. But I wish all you ladies the best, and try not to worry yourselves. You'll each be holding your little bundles before you know it.

@LizC216 I had an anterior placenta with DS and wasn't able to feel any movement at all until around 20 weeks. Don't worry, it won't be much longer!
