So, DH and I found out we were pregnant 3/12 and we were so excited. Last week, I began having some spotting and I pretty much cramped continuously from O day until yesterday. They tested my levels when I was about 5 weeks and were concerned they were a little low. The following week they tested them again last Friday and they had dropped and my sac was dating behind on the ultrasound. They confirmed it was a miscarriage, but by the time the blood work came back Monday I already knew because I had begun bleeding. We were obviously devastated since this was our first pregnancy.
Yesterday the cramping and bleeding was so intense I was in tears. This morning there was a pool of blood when I woke up and the pain has subsided so hopefully the worst is over. I go back for follow up blood work tomorrow.
I am so sorry that we all find ourselves here.

He is going to test my levels this cycle and see if we can add a medication (possibly Clomid) to help us have a healthy pregnancy that we can maintain. Also my cousin has a clotting disorder that prevented her from getting pregnant for a time, so we will be looking into that. Right now the only thing getting me through this is having a plan to prevent this from happening again. It is the most awful thing and I wouldn't wish it upon my very worst enemy.

The doctor wants me to wait a cycle and try clomid he thinks it will help my progesterone. I asked my MIL's opinion because she's a well renowned OB (albeit in a different state and I would probably never let her be my OB cause that's awkward) and she seemed to agree that clomid will help with progesterone. I've read mixed things on here about OB's perscribing Clomid and that it should be monitored by an RE, but both doctors said since I am able to get pregnant it means Clomid is a good option and we don't have to worry about a sperm analysis or tubal blockage.
I guess it's a decision DH and I have to make when the time comes.

I have some experience w/Clomid. I guess I would ask why your doctor thinks there is a progesterone issue and why not take progesterone supplements if there is. My understanding is that Clomid can increase the number of eggs released and help with ovulation (I use it because of MFI issues--we wanted to increase the chances that a normal sperm would make its way to an egg). And people respond differently, both in terms of follicles & side effects (like thinning your lining), so it can be a good idea to have some monitoring. Happy to answer questions if I can, and again so sorry for your loss.

I know it can increase our chances of twins, but my MIL said only by about 1% on average. We wouldn't be opposed to twins anyway as long as it meant we had a healthy baby! (Twins run in my moms family, she herself is a twin!)
For us the saddest part was we told our parents Saturday we were expecting and Miscarried two days later, so essentially had to untell them.

ETA: I hope this post didn't come off as harsh. I've just seen a lot of women elsewhere on TB take risks with unmonitored Clomid, with bad results, and I'm honestly just trying to look out for your health. Best wishes.

I am going to the doctor today so I will be sure to ask a lot of questions and ensure I am going to be monitored properly if we go through with this. We were fortunate to get pregnant on our second cycle trying, but if I can do something to prevent DH and I from going through this again I have to strongly consider it.

I, like others here, have concerns about the jump from one loss to such a strong treatment. Low progesterone can be caused by many different things and it can be an indicator of many different things. There are a variety of treatments and protocols that doctors can use to try and prevent miscarriage, but first and foremost, I hope you will go through some basic testing before you decide on any course of treatment.
And with all due respect to your MIL and your own OB, specialists are specialists for a reason. My OB performed a lot of the tests on me she knew could contribute to RPL, but was honest about her limitations in giving advice regarding treatment. Delivering babies and handling (mostly) healthy pregnancies is a different specialty than treating the myriad causes of infertility. Reproductive endocrinologists are the experts when it comes to pregnancy loss.
I am sure you will, but please do consider all of the potential risks and rewards before making this important decision.
We all want the best for you!
