I started acupuncture last June with the intention of potentially helping my fertility. I still suffered another loss. BUT, I still go. There are various approaches a practitioner can use and if you live in a large enough area, there may be some who actually focus on it, or include it among other areas of focus. In my research I found that there are even some fertility clinics around the US with acupuncturists on staff.
Even though I still had a loss after starting it, I have kept it up (with less frequency). We just changed up the points and currently I go to help manage my stress levels. It can be expensive, and some practices are big on herbal supplements and other items in addition to the treatment. I have not pursued that and my guy has never pushed anything like that, though I see a wall of supplements in the office.
I encourage you to try it if it's accessible, see what you think! Both my OB/GYN and RE were in full support of me pursuing it.
Me: 40, DH: 35 / Married: 2009; TTC #1: 2013
2013 - 2015: 5 pregnancies —> 5 miscarriages
TTCAL with RE (RPL specialist): February 2016
2016: 3 medicated TI cycles —> 3 medicated IUI cycles: All BFN
I don't know if you remember PeggyOlsonFTW but I know she started acupuncture the cycle she got her most recent BFP. I know several ladies from the TTGP board recently started acupuncture and got their BFP.
I'm certainly not saying that if you go do acupuncture you'll get a BFP. I think it's important to go into it with realistic expectations. I've just been thinking about all that a lot lately.
I have my first acupuncture appointment scheduled tomorrow afternoon. I figure that even if it doesn't help me get a BFP and even if it doesn't even help regulate my cycles, at least I'll get some time to relax.
Me: 28 Husband: 31 TTC#1: January 2015- September 2016 Infertility, Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Rainbow baby born June 6, 2017 ❤️
I did acupuncture for 2-3 months following my miscarriage. I went for shortened luteal phase and to attempt to regulate. I found it to be very relaxing, but did not feel it helped me much in terms of my cycle. It might have been too soon? It helped me to feel a little more in control, more than anything in a very difficult time, like I was "doing" something to move forward. It got to be very expensive after my flex spending ran out, and I noticed some impact on my cycle I didn't like, so I stopped going.
I did acupuncture for my second and third IUI cycles, and have been going post-loss to help things get back to normal. I see someone who works a lot on fertility (both natural & medicated cycles). I also just like talking to my provider and feel like it's nice to have another person in my corner, so to speak. Like @fivetimesnoluck there is a wall of herbs, but my acupuncturist has never pushed it, and my RE was very supportive.

Okay. So take this for what it is. It could totally be a fluke BUT it took us FOUR years and some failed IUIS to conceive DS 1.
Fast forward 18 months and we decided to try acupuncture to conceive #2. I was pregnant by month 5. CP. Got pregnant later the same month. Ectopic. 2 months later, pregnant again and DS 2 is the result.
So, I don't know how we went from 4 yrs to pregnancies every month practically.
I went weekly and took my charts in. I also took herbs rx'ed by my acupuncturist and so did my husband.
I highly recommend it. I don't think it is a quick fix. I went weekly for months.
I don't know enough about it. Up to this point, we haven't had issues getting pregnant, just issues staying pregnant. I'm not certain that acupuncture is necessary. I'm not sure what I need fixed. I just want to feel like I'm DOING something. (Like @BornReady said)
I called the highly recommended acupuncture doctor. The cost is intense. I'm going to reconsider in a few months.
I have been seeing an acupuncturist since December after 2 losses in 2015. She has helped lengthen my LP and was helping me raise my temperatures. We have been TTC since January with no luck yet (our first 2 pregnancies happened very quickly). I go weekly, but I am considering cutting it down to twice a month for cost reasons. This month my temperatures have been lower than I want them and it is very frustrating for me. I'm a little bit of a sad-sack today, but I think overall I have been happy with acupuncture because I have seen physical results (i.e., a change in my LP). I would suggest exploring the idea and see how it works for you.
I just made my first consultation with an acupuncturist for this weekend. I have been struggling with my mental health (stress/anxiety) since the MMC and after our CP I know I am boarder line depression so mostly going for these reasons but I am going to talk to him about infertility points as well so maybe help with implantation for future. My dad had immediate success for multiple things in the last using acupuncture and I firmly believe in trying this before a counselor

@SnobunnieMel I'm so sorry. It's really positive you're being proactive about how you're feeling. Best of luck to you, lady.

Glad you made an appt. @SnobunnieMel. I mentioned earlier in this thread that I did acupuncture soon after MC. While I didn't respond well fertility wise, I will say that there was something very comforting about it for me. As a "caretaker" in my home life and job, it was a very gentle and peaceful experience to have my provider tend to me for the 1.5-2 hours I was there. Even though she left the room for long periods it was a very good thing for my mental health during a super vulnerable time. I hope it's everything you need it to be.
