Are there any first time moms having a baby boy also? I cannot wait to meet my prince but I have to admit that I am scared of raising a boy. I've been around girls and I initially wanted a baby girl. My baby boy is going to be exactly what i need and I am so grateful for him already!
Anyone one else can share my sentiments?
Some support and company will be nice
Re: Baby boy!! First time mom
Boys are crazy and will keep you on your toes for sure! DS1 is 3 and in the last week has managed to get a fat lip, a black eye, a goose egg on his forehead and two scraped knees. They play so rough! But boys love their moms so fiercely. The bond you will have with your son is indescribable. My rough and tumble boy thinks the world revolves around me and he always takes time out of his craziness to give me a hug or kiss. My only complaint is that there are so many more cute girl clothes!! Seriously, the girls' section is always twice the size of the boys' section.

Just keep swimming.
Little boys are awesome. I wasn't sure if I had a preference for boy vs girl last time but I think I hit the lottery with this kid. Though i also say he's my decoy kid - he's only this great to get me to have a second kid. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop any day now lol
I had imagined raising strong independent girls as women's rights has always been a passion of mine. Now I think about how I have the opportunity to raise boys who have those same values, and will treat women with respect and awareness of how these issues still play out in our society.
I was so nervous when we found out it's a boy, until I realized how much almost more important it is to raise our boys with the same values I would be raising a girl to have. And I also realized I was such a tomboy growing up and I've always had an easier time with boys. It'll be great to watch him one day be a big brother
Last school year, I busted one of my 11th graders at parent conferences for some pretty misogynistic comments in a paper. His mom's reaction was the best. She stared at him for a minute, then said quietly, "This is not the man I've raised you to be." He literally cowered.
He wrote an open letter to women as an apology, apologized to me personally, and followed up later in the year with an essay arguing for gender rights. I don't know what else his mom said to him, but it stuck. This year, as I was passing through the cafeteria, I heard him criticize two of his friends for being disrespectful toward women. He didn't know anyone was listening.
I hope that as DS develops his morals and values, I can be as strong a compass as my student's mom was for her son.
I totally agree on girl clothes being cuter. But, boy toys are WAY cooler I realized trying to find a non-princess Christmas present for a 5 yr old girl cousin. Ugh!
