Starving toddler!

My daughter just turned 1 a week ago and we had already been working on getting her off the bottle and formula. We have watered down her bottles a lot and she's stopped taking all bottles but just 2. The past couple days she acts like she can't get enough to eat. She can eat two 6 oz cups of yogurt every day, a bunch of Gerber puffs, oatmeal, and depending on what I'm eating for supper she eats some of that, pickles and who knows what else. She eats constantly every day now. I try water, while milk and juice in a sippy cup but we are having a hard time finding one she likes. She use to use her sippy cup but now she doesn't care for it. I'm worried she's not getting enough fluids during the day bit refuses to drink much besides the watered down bottles. She is also cutting two teeth at the moment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Once they turn 1, baby's diet changes from primarily liquid to primarily solid. My pediatrician said my son would go from drinking 25-30 ounces of breastmilk to 12-16 ounces, almost cutting his consumption in half. As long as your daughter is wetting a diaper every 8 hours she should be fine. I hope that helps!

We love our Tervis sippy cup. Expensive, but it works great, and our LO loves it. She drinks about 6 oz of whole milk for breakfast, and I use about 6 oz in her cereal, then another 6 oz at night. She won't drink much between meals. I worried about not getting enough fluids, but I think she is doing fine. Still wetting diapers. I bet your LO is doing just fine. Maybe going through a growth spurt. I feed our LO until she seems satisfied 3 times a day, and typically 2 snacks in between meals. It's a big adjustment for us as parents because it's so much different than all that formula, but that's just part of it. You're doing fine!
