Anyone Get a BFP after a BFN?

Hi there. I'm 14 dpiui (my first) so I took my test (the 2WW sucked) and it was a BFN. Okay, I could accept that but my AF is 2 days late and I'm usually like clockwork - spotting 2-4 days before and then starting. I've had ZERO bleeding. I know Clomid can affect your cycle but I'm wondering if anyone has gotten a BFP later in their cycle? My RE's office has said to just wait another week - that either a test will show positive or my period will come - that week sounds excruciating. Anyone else out there in or ever been in this boat?

  • An IUI can completely change your cycle. My last IUI I had a negative beta CD15, but didn't get AF for another 3 days. I was later than what is "normal" for me. Did you take Clomid or Letrozole? Were you taking progesterone? Those are all factors that can change your cycle.

  • Clomid yes, progesterone no. My 21 day test showed that I did ovulate. I'm now on CD 30 My last few cycles have been 28, 26, 29, 28 so I know I'm still in that window where AF can show up. It's just weird to have no spotting as of yet. Just holding out hope I guess.

  • Fertility meds of any kind can change your cycle.  In very rare cases people get BFPs after 14dpo, but it is rare.  Usually whatever the test says on 14dpo is what it is.  I hope AF shows for you soon so you can move on to your next cycle.  Sorry about your BFN :(

  • Medications change your cycle. If you tested 14 days then its pretty accurate with results. I always had a 26 day cycle and I have done 3 IUI's on clomid and my cycles last over 30 days now. Sorry and GL next round!

  • Thanks, everyone! The waiting game is just so stressful! While I know this cycle is most likely a loss, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I ovulated a little later (we did the IUI on day 16 but I didn't have an LH surge, but they still moved forward based on  the size of the follicles) or that my digital test (since it was FRER) just didn't detect. Not too hopeful but until AF decides to grace me with her presence the 'what ifs' are in my head.

  • Hi byrneme, I completely understand where your coming from it's so hard to just keep keep getting BFN's and still be waiting on AF. I'm in a similar position I'm 14dpiui all BFN's I usually always have spotting but have nothing , but I'm on progesterone which is probably why. It's so hard tho. The clinic had said to test tmw day 15piui then stop progesterone if it's a bfn. Even tmw seems forever away! I know deep down it didn't work.

Did u get you AF yet or have you had a lovely BFP?
  • Oh AF reared her ugly head on CD32. Currently waiting for my LH surge to do IUI #2. Best of luck in your journey this month!

Sorry to hear that. Good luck on IUI #2. I'm still in my 2WW I guess, only 3 days late. It's my first medicated cycle in a looong time so I'm thinking the meds jacked my cycle up. So I definitely know the feeling of waiting! I haven't tested yet though. Trying to hold out until Saturday (which would be CD 38, approx 22 days dpo) if AF hasn't showed by then.
