gift idea for neighbor

we don't know our neighbors well, however, one of the ones right next to us (they just moved in a few months ago - they are renting the house) snowblows our sidewalk every time he goes out if we haven't done it yet.  (Actually right now as DH and I are sitting on our behinds, he is doing it.  I yelled at DH for no closing the blinds cause I feel like a tool!)

Anyhow, we would like to do something or buy something nice for them for doing this for us.  I was going to make some cookies and take them over but our oven is acting up.  I still might, but does anyone have any other ideas that would be thoughtful?  TIA!

Re: gift idea for neighbor

  • do you guys have a movie store close by?  A 25 gift card in a basket with some microwave popcorn, some bags of movie theateresque candy and a 6 pack of coke/pepsi is my typical thank you for people I don't know that well.

That's way cooler than what we got from our neighbor for doing their driveway & walkway when they're out... a bottle of wine & box of crackers. (and they know i'm pg!)

  • you could get the a nice yummy bottle of wine! yummmm, i miss wine

sigh....I miss wine too :(  only problem I am thinking with alcohol is that they  have 4 boys (all in high school and younger) so I kinda want to get something they can all use!

  • I use Mason jars and layer all of the dry ingredients for a soup called "Friendship Soup". I also put cornbread mix and other goodies in baskets to give to people for Thank You gifts. If you want the recipe just get me your email address. It's really yummy and so easy to do!
  • I gave my neighbors some yummy pumpkin chocolate chip bread from a local bakery for snow blowing our walks. I don't know them well, so I didn't give them anything homemade. I was afraid they might be squeamish and toss it. I probably would if I didn't know the person gifting the food. Those mason jars with ingredients are cool. I would totally give/use that.
