So the last time we were at the doctors for she check, her pediatrician told me that he think she may have a hernia but he wouldn't said much more than that, even after I asked questions. So of course I am nervous about it and wondering if anyone else has the same thing
DS had/has one. I just thought he had an outie, but turns out it's a hernia. It's usually not painful for them and doesn't affect their functioning in any way it's mostly just cosmetic. They can perform minor surgery to repair it, but usually wait because sometimes it will fix itself in a year or two when they build their abdominal strength. DS's never did that, but the doctor has never recently mentioned having surgery to repair it and honestly I forget to ask whenever we go!
My baby has one too. The dr said it usually resolves itself within the first year, and that they would do surgery if it hadn't corrected itself by age five or something, so they definitely have time!
She also said to watch it to make sure it stays soft and that you can push on it easily. If it turns black or is hard to the touch, get in touch with your doctor because it could mean some of the intestines got in there. She said it wasn't common though and everything should be fine.
My doctor didn't seem phased either. When we go back for her one month check up, we are seeing a different doctor so I am going to ask about it to her.
