We bought a BOB today, and my husband drives an accent. We won't be putting that in his trunk. Well... I know I sure won't! It's 25lbs, and you have to angle it juuuuuust right to get it in without dinging up the car. And I'm 5'5 and the angle is kinda "up and in" and would be tough. My husband can manage it. The weight also makes it hard... We bought it because we have a rails to trails next to our house, and I drive an SUV I can get this in easily. As awesome as this stroller is, I wouldn't have bought this stroller if it was either our primary stroller or the accent was my primary car (or even the car we generally use as a family) - mostly it's just used as my husband's commuter car. Hope this helps!
I will add (because I'm in love with our BOB) the wheels have a quick release, so you can take them off to pop the stroller in the trunk. But...still big, still kind of a pain.
The other stroller company you might look at (it's not a jogger though) is Joovy. We bought one used as our "run around" stroller and I love it! I used to work with kids, so I moved around a lot of strollers. The Joovy is super light weight and easy to move, and folds up really tiny - even the doubles!
@Allisun85 Can I ask which joovy you bought? I am leaning toward the scooter x2 double but I can't find any stores in my area that have it to see in person. My son will be almost three when the new baby comes, and we have the single city mini gt and while I love it I can't justify spending almost $600 on the double when I don't know if he will be even interested in sitting in it. The joovy X2 is priced so well with great reviews but I don't know anyone that actually has this one or even a single...
We bought the scooter single (we got it used, nearly new) and I am in love with it. It moves super easy, it folds up bitty, and it was very reasonable. (especially used!) It also has some "bells and whistles" you wouldn't expect at this price point. (like the canopy is made of UV protective material, so it provides SPF) We did buy the snack tray for when he is older, and the car seat adapter, which added about $35.00. I saw the new version of the double at buy buy baby (they carry joovy) and I liked it a lot. It's a little slimmer than most doubles (kinda like the city mini) and was as easy to move as like a Graco single. Not quite as good as the single joovy, but you could definitely get it through normal sized doors or take it shopping and not be cursing it the whole time. If we had two, that was the double I would have gotten... The city mini is a little nicer, but double the price... and honestly for only a "little" nicer, I can think of other things to do with $300.00.
I LOVE our city mini. I can collapse it with one hand (which is so useful) and its so light. I've never had an issue with it and would recommend it to anyone!
We bought a Bumbleride Indie, used, with our first and I love it. With an April birthday, there were a lot of walks on maternity leave and this time won't be any different. It goes off paved trails really well, is easy to fold up and fits in the trunk of our Passat (as long as there isn't anything else in there). There is a board you can buy for a toddler to stand on and we might get that once this baby arrives for our 2 yr old but haven't decided. It's about 20 lbs but I could pick it up pretty easily (I'm 5'3"). It worked without a car seat adapter for our Graco Click Connect seat.
Those are two completely different strollers. I love my BOB but I run all the time. If you aren't planning on running you really don't need such a bulky stroller.
We love our single BOB for walks/ runs in the neighborhood and outdoor activities, however it's not our "everyday" stroller that is taken in and out of the trunk each day since it's so bulky and cumbersome to maneuver when folded. If you are looking for a stroller that will easily fold up for the car, I'd go with the City Mini.
I agree with kattyleigh and PeachGal23. We currently have a BOB single, but it's not our everyday stroller, we have a City Select and soon we'll buy the second seat for it so that'll continue to be our everyday stroller. I'm also getting a BOB Duallie to use as my jogging stroller if and when I have both kiddos with me when we go out for walks and such.
I was able to buy the bob second hand and I'm in love with it. the tires do pop off very easily. I would have been happy with either the city mini or bob, but again I went with the bob because it was such a great deal
I am not planning on using either for jogging. I know the city mini is not a jogging stroller. I love how smooth the bob pushes and other features. I still have to get to BRU to try out the city mini. Those who love the city mini, do you have the GT?
Love my uppababy worth every single penny. It is used (time wise) more than my car, so worth the investment in my opinion. I had the city mini, I think it is pretty poorly made and it kinda started falling apart after a year. It'nice, compact and light weight but I would never purchase it again or recommend it to anyone.
