    Baby Name(s): Camden

    Age: 10weeks

Rants: his thrush doesn't seem to be going away. And everyone in the house has allergies so lots of snot in my life now. Oh and I found out last week both my kids might have albinism(albino).....so I have to figure that out and that means more doctors appts

Raves:Smiling so much more and cooing. I love baby coos

How’s recovery?: Emotionally much better this time. However the weight is not melting off like it did before and I'm exercising more :/

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far?

I love seeing DD interact with her brother in such a loving way even if at times she overdoes it

    ETA: albinism
  • Baby Name(s): Athena Katharine

    Age: 7 weeks 1 day

Rants: oh god, where to begin.. she's been having horrible gas lately which causes her to scream in pain. it's so hard because there's not much that can be done about tummy issues :( we're also dealing with some of the issues after that 10 day stint in the hospital after her UTI and finding out she might have a duplex collecting system in her kidney. april is already packed with hospital appointments.. i'm so over this month and it's barely started.

Raves: on the bright side, she's definitely becoming more of person and starting to focus and try to grab things. it's so cool how she can hold her head and stretch her neck to try to look around. i love watching her to see what she's trying to see.

How’s recovery?: all good, i think i recovered pretty well and everything seems to be back to normal.. except sex which still feels.. weird and kinda hurts :\

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? watching her develop and find her personality. she's constantly discovering new things and i can see it in her eyes when she is learning how things work. plus those smiles are awesome :)

    Age: 8 weeks

Rants: I  wish our BFing experience had been better, but EPing is going okay.

Raves: I  love her little sounds and cuddling her while we nap.

How's recovery? I'm doing pretty well emotionally, I'm not crying at the drop of a hat anymore =) physically, I was doing better, but since getting an IUD I'm cramping again. I'm trying really hard to get into shape now. I have lost all of the baby weight, but I was overweight before and I really want to be healthy.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? Seeing my little girl grow and change every day.
    I am 27, DH is 26.

  • Baby Name(s): Caleb

    Age: 8 weeks 2 days

Rants: So ready for the weather to finally warm up enough to be outside more often with LO. My boys and I are starting to go crazy being stuck inside. On top of that, we cant seem to get rid of these colds that we have been passing around to each other for the past 4+ weeks.

Raves: After dealing with a cold for 2 weeks Caleb is finally starting to get back to sleeping his long stretches at night rather than waking every 2 hours from his congestion.

How’s recovery?: Recovery has been great. This was definitely the easiest recovery compared to my other 3 deliveries. Now just trying to workout and get the last few pounds of this baby weight off.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? Love seeing his personality starting to show more and seeing him interact with his older brothers. His brothers are so good with him.

  • This is a great idea!

Baby name: Eliana (but we call her Ellie)

    Age: 7 weeks (February 12)

Rants:  I want to constantly be with the baby, yet also want some time to feel like an independent person. It makes me feel like a nutcase. And my MIL keeps bringing up siblings for Ellie and making jokes about wanting 12 grandchildren.

Raves: baby related: Ellie's favorite way to nap is on my chest. She snuggles into my neck and it's the best thing ever!  Not baby-related: I got a pedicure today and it was amazing.

How's recovery? I had a pretty easy recovery--just one stitch and I felt back to normal pretty fast. However, I when I went in for my 6 week appointment, I learned that the reason why they had to manually detach the placenta was because I had a focal placenta accreta. If we have another baby, it's highly likely to occur again and be worse. I feel extremely lucky that it wasn't a huge deal this time.

GTKY: What's your favorite thing about being a parent? I second (or third) watching her grow and develop a personality! It's so much fun!

  • Baby Name(s): Caroline

    Age: 7.5 weeks

Rants: So many tummy troubles! We're also dealing with gas and reflux :/ We got a prescription for Zantac and got a week of relief and now it seems we need to up her dosage. Also, we were starting to feed every 3 hours regularly for few days but now it seems to be back to every 2 hours again :/

Raves: Lots of smiles and coos lately! (in between the tears from reflux/gas pain that is). I love that she's recognizing my voice and becoming more observant and alert

How’s recovery?: Pretty good! Still feeling some soreness down there but that's about it. I'm super unmotivated to work out even though my flabby tummy should have the opposite effect. Also, no desire to get back in the sack. Zero. My poor husband.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far?

l just love that I'm getting the opportunity to be a SAHM. She has grown so much and I love being there to see it.

    Baby Name(s): Lakely Elizabeth

    Age: 5w1d

Rants: she's been so good, but the husbands been working 6-7 days a week so it's all been me- baby, house work, cooking, etc  however, if having a hardworking husband is the biggest rant I have, I'll consider myself lucky!

Raves: she's been so so good, has always been a good eater, is so happy, doesn't fuss/cry much (I hope and pray she stays this good) is so beautiful and smart! I could just eSt her up

    in

How’s recovery?: great, I've felt normal since about 2 week PP

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? Just seeing my baby grow, and  learn, and knowing she's half of me! I can't wait for her to get a little older to see her explore and learn! She's just the best!

  • @mwmiller4 OMG I had placenta increta!  It was a disaster.  Probably 20 doctors and nurses trying to figure out what was wrong with me and I ended up needing a hysterectomy!  What an awful thing.  What do they advise you to do, not have more kids?

  • Baby Name(s): Amelia

    Age: 7.5 weeks

Rants: my mother tells me not to pick her up when she crys. We see her every Sunday for supper after church and she is crying because she is over tired from being awake all during service and at her house  the longest she will see there is 30 minutes. We are there 3-5 hours!!!!!

Raves: I am getting a new to me car that will fit my family and we will own it outright no payment plans!!!!

How’s recovery?: I had a csection and I fee like crap. I feel like I have been hit by a car everything hurts. I'm sure it is because I'm still recovering and doing everything

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? I love when Amelia sees me and smiles. Or stops crying when I pick her up.

  • Baby name : Zoey

    age: 8 weeks

rants: only two weeks of maternity leave left (I used three during hospital bed rest before she was born) I work nights and just not sure how I can do it . Already feeling so overwhelmed. And babygirl is still having a hard time settling in for sleep at night . She is exhausted but it's like she feels she will miss something she just pops her head up

raves: vacation next week --one last family hoorah before back to work .. Lots of coos and smiles

recovery: feeling good just getting tired easily like mentioned in prior thread

gtky: fav thing is watching my daughters interact . After being told my hubby couldn't have kids abs failing iui it felt like this day would never come .. Even when I'm exhausted hating hubby (lol) I wouldn't trade it for Anything
  • Baby Name(s): Carmine

    Age: 8 weeks today

Rants: my sons spring break is over lol but not really a big rant. Just enjoy the time with all 4 of my kids.

Raves: My little guy is such a mellow baby. Since day 1 he's really calm, doesn't cry much and breastfeeding has been amazing with him.

    How’s recovery?:perfect no complications

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? Fourth time mom but I love motherhood. Just seeing my kids grow up and seeing how their own personalities develop. Their all so different and I love it. I love the unconditional love.

  • Baby Name(s): Turner

    Age: almost 9 weeks

Rants: he doesn't like to snuggle very often and he seems to prefer DH sometimes. I was hoping for a mamas boy

Raves: he has slept 9:30-5 every night the last two weeks. Last night was 9:30-6!

How’s recovery?: good now. It sucked the first 3-4 weeks though

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? He's our second but I just love seeing his personality show and watching his sister interact with him

  • Baby Name(s): Roan

    Age: Almost 5 weeks

Rants: He can be difficult to get to sleep. I've really been trying to prevent him from getting overtired, but this kid fights sleep. Once he's out he's a great sleeper but I spend a LOT of time trying to help him get there. Annoying. Also I was never obsessed with cleaning. Not even at the end of my pregnancy. But now I cannot abide clutter or dirt of any kind. It just drives me crazy, so I spend a lot of nap times impulsively cleaning things or straightening up. Nice for the apartment, but I wish I didn't care so much. It must be hormones.

Raves: What a rocky start to breastfeeding we had. My milk came in late...almost 2 weeks after his birth. We supplemented with formula and I cried and consulted lactation experts and cried some more. Thankfully I was able to use a pump to stimulate more milk flow and get him interested in the boobs. It's so much better now. Such a relief. He's been 100% breastfed for a week now!

How’s recovery?: Great! The bleeding is pretty much gone and I've been mobile since shortly after birth. I feel good enough that I've overdone it a couple of times, though. I still can't handle long walks (I end up with a dull pain in my womb) and bending over gives me a strange sensation in my vag. I had a whole lot of stitches, so it might be related. I don't feel physically ready for sex or running yet...two activities I'd like to get back to.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? I love taking him out in the stroller! It feels so good to walk around with him and show him off to the world. He seems to appreciate the fresh air. The weather has been nice enough a couple of times to sit down at a cafe terrace.

    Baby Name(s): Maisie

    Age: 5 weeks today

Rants: she cluster feeds EVERY night from 6 on and off til 11 ish. Exhausting!!!

Raves: she is awake so much more now so we get lots of smiles and looking around. So nice!

How’s recovery?: better each week. Recovery from episiotomy and tear was really hard but feeling so much more normal now! Baby blues much better too, went through a crying at nothing phase which was hard!

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? All the smiles! And cuddles

@egraves4 that's terrible and completely unfair. I'm so sorry!

It was pretty wild in the delivery room for us as well--went from3 people and totally relaxed to about 15 people in about 2 minutes. I had 3 different people attempt to manaully detach the placenta (3rd time was a charm and it hurt like a mother, even with an epidural that had made me so numb at the beginning that I couldn't tell when to push). I was lucky and she got everything. I didn't think too much of it since the bleeding stopped and they didn't release the pathology report until my appointment. I had an early missed miscarriage (just a yolk sac developed) last December that took 2 D&Cs to resolve which they now think is related to accreta. She said if we choose to have another baby, I need to get an epidural (which since I was able to push a posterior baby out for 3 hours like it was NBD after the excruciating hip and back pain went away, I'm fine with that) and to know that the condition tends to reoccurs and get worse with subsequent pregnancies. She said that it was possible they wouldn't be able to manually remove the placenta next time and I would need surgery--possibly a hysterectomy. So. I've been processing that slowly. I'm older (35 in August) and while I loooooove kids (I'm a teacher and I'd bring them all home if I could), the anxiety I have about the baby dying while pregnant already made me feel like I'd be happy with just Ellie. It was also a nightmare trying to get pregnant again after the miscarriage. I was so upset and put so much pressure on myself and am lucky it happened quickly. DH really wanted Ellie to have a sibling prior to the accreta news so Im really not sure what we're going to do.

Um. That was really long. Sorry! So many feelings   :s
  • Baby Name(s): Zoey Ann

    Age: 9 weeks

Rants: turns out my horrible boss... Is in fact horrible! She basically let me go while I was on maternity leave. I figure God has a better plan for me! And it's not working for that crazy. So searching for a new job!

Raves:I could go on and on ! My sweet girl is more amazing than I could have imagined. She smiles and "talks" to me, loves to take baths, and likes her swing. She also started noticing all the bright colors and giggles at her mobile animals. She also does a long stretch of 6 hours at night between her feedings. She is such a little beauty !

How’s recovery?: recovery after a c section was a lot harder than I imagined. But, after about 4 weeks I was doing good. As far as the baby weight... I lost a lot of it within two weeks being home and after that I swear I could eat everything in the house! Zoey gets breast milk and formula.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? Everything, everyday, every moment I get to spend with her!

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • Baby Name(s): Grace (Gracie)

    Age: 11 weeks tomorrow

Rants: Gracie has so many medical needs that I'm really struggling to balance life right now. All the specialists we have to see are 2 hours away and I'm constantly having to pull my kids out of school to get her to them. All of my supports work and I have nowhere for my kids to go so by default they have to come along. And travelling so often with 3 kids is hard! Im feeling a bit overwhelmed right now, but wouldn't trade this sweet soul for the world.

Raves: I absolutely love having a baby in the house again. My other two are past the snuggly age so all these cuddles I'm getting feel amazing. Also my other two have adapted so well to adding a third, and I'm loving watching them grow together.

How’s recovery?: I feel completely normal. It didn't take very long for me to bounce back this time around.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? The love. The way that Grace won't settle for anyone else but is calm and quiet as soon as she's in my arms. It's an amazing feeling knowing that you are someone's entire world.

Baby #3 due February. Dx with Spina Bifida Myelo  "good things are coming down the road, just don't stop walking"
  • Baby Name(s): Jack

    Age: 5 weeks

Rants: being home all day with a baby is taking some getting use to.  Since Jack is still so young, there is not all that much we/he can do (other than walks in the stroller, so sometimes we go on 3 a day).  The lack of sleep is unreal. I can't really sleep when the baby sleeps because he likes to nap in the stroller (has to be moving fast), or on my chest during the day. Breastfeeding is HARD.  Even when you have no major issues, it is really really hard

Raves:  I love when sometimes he cries just because he wants to snuggle me.  He is starting to smile more when he hears my voice, which is amazing

How’s recovery?: not bad.  The first week was terrible (no one tells you that going to the bathroom for the first time when you had stitches will be terrifying!)  But I recovered pretty quickly and lost most of the baby weight (just need to tone the mushy-ness now)

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far?  Unconditional love despite being more exhausted that every in my life.  And milk coma smiles :)

  • Baby Name(s): Ellie

    Age: 6weeks (February 19)

Rants: She's taken a liking to sleeping in our bed. I've tried to get her to sleep in her swing, rock n play, and bassinet, but to no avail. I have a full size bed so trying to fit me, baby and SO on bed is difficult. I usually end up on edge of bed or in corner. I wake up sore and restless.

Raves: DD responds to my voice when she hears me in room! A plus side to her sleeping in bed with us is that she somehow ends up snuggled up against me. She moves herself from the middle of bed to my side. SO has also asked my opinion on going to look at engagement ring! I tried to play it off cool but on the inside I am so excited!

How’s recovery?: recovery went well for my first time. I bounced back  fourth week. Still unable to DTD even though I was cleared last week.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? Waking up to find her snuggled up against me And when she lifts her head and looks around for me when she hears my voice just melts my heart. The unconditional love is just something else entirely.

  • Baby name: Charlotte

Age: 9 weeks (born feb 1st)

Rants: as much as I love her little attitude and the fact that she knows what she wants its so frustrating when she constantly needs to be walked and held and is not impressed by being put down in her swing or pack n play. Mama needs to get things done!

Raves: she knows who I am and gives me smiles and laughs that she doesn't give anyone else. DH was up with her the other morning and when I came down and started talking to her her face totally lit up and she started laughing, DH said it was the first smile he saw all morning! I melt inside when she smiles. She's also started to be an awesome sleeper at night, we just need to work on napping.

Recovery: went pretty well, I had a 2nd degree tear so I was in a lot of pain when sitting and moving around for the first week or two. Haven't had the courage to attempt anything in the bedroom yet even though I was cleared 3 weeks ago.

Favourite thing about being a parent: the connection and love i have with my little girl, It's unlike anything I could have imagined. Watching her learn something new or do something new everyday never gets old.
  • Baby Name: Ella Annie

Age: almost 8 weeks (Feb 10)

Rants: I never planned to cosleep/bedshare but it is the only way I can get her to sleep for stretches longer than 20 min. She will sleep through tje night a couple of nights a week if she sleeps with me. Yes, I know it is not the safest but mommy needs sleep too. MIL needs to mind her own business; its called skin to skin. It is good for DDs development and mommy's baby blues, I am not being lazy/bad mom for not having her dressed at home. And why does maternity leave have to end? I don't want to leave my DD to go to work :(

Raves: BF is hard but I love it. Baby smiles and conversations. Cuddles. I am her favorite.

How’s recovery?: physically, great. Emotionally, I am getting there. Working with a counselor to get through baby blues and my unplanned c-section.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? Everything! I am so in love. This face

  • Baby Name:  Conrad

    Age: 7.5 weeks

Rants:  My rant is mid to late afternoon naptimes.  LO does not seem to want to nap at that time, even though he gets tired and then fussy cries.  Yesterday afternoon was entertaining.  I put him down after he yawned a couple times, put in his pacifier, and left the room.  About 20 minutes later he started crying.  I went in, he smiled and cooed at me, I put in his pacifier again, and left the room.  As soon as he couldn't see me, he started crying.  We repeated this process 3 times before I decided to feed him to get him to go to sleep.  I think we're at the point where LO wants his momma.  So last evening, I had DH interact with him entirely during the evening.  He fed him a bottle for one of his evening feeds.  The only time I held LO last night was to BF before bedtime routine.  I'm tracking LO's naptimes this week...he has a doctor's appointment on Monday, and I want to make sure he's getting enough sleep during the day, especially since he's showing me he's tired.  It ranges anywhere from 2 to 4.5 hours.  From what I read, a baby his age should be sleeping more than that during the day, so we'll see what the doctor says...

Raves: So even though afternoon napping is a challenge, he sleeps SO well during the night!  He gets up twice a night, but it's completely manageable.  Once I go back to work, DH will do one night feed and I'll do the other, so it will be even more manageable (at least for me!).  DH has been off the hook since he has to get up for work.  My other rave is that we can pretty much take LO anywhere at this point, and he will keep himself together.  He loves noise and commotion.  I think this is because I'm a middle school choir teacher and also have cafeteria duty on certain days, and he's used to craziness from in the womb!  However, I can't take him places every single day during PM naps!

How’s recovery?: I'm healed.  I had a 2nd degree tear, so the first couple of weeks were rough, but I was cleared to work out, which has helped me get back into some sort of a routine.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? LO has started "talking" to me, and it is the cutest thing!  Plus, I love watching him grow and become more interested in things every day.

  • Baby Name(s): Ross

    Age: nearly 8 weeks

Rants: The babe has the typical tummy/digestive irritations, which break my heart AND keep him up some nights :(

Raves: He's healthy, he's handsome, he's been known to sleep up to 6 hours in a row, and he's a happy little dude nearly all of the time!

How’s recovery?: I had a severe muscle tear during delivery, and have been using a walker and other assistive devices since then. I haven't been able to walk with LO in my arms yet, but I CAN shower/use the toilet without help now, and hopefully will be cleared to drive soon. It's been one heck of an 8 weeks, but I'm slowly getting better.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far? Watching him grow, and catching those genuine smiles - nothing like it.

  • Baby Name(s): Miranda

    Age: 8 weeks today

Rants: I hate thrush!  I went to my doc when I first started feeling uncomfortable and he said he didn't see anything concerning.  Well a week later I called back because I was swollen and red in the nipples and it felt like sandpaper when she was nursing and burned a long time after she was done.  Her pediatrician saw her and gave her meds for thrush and prescribed me stuff too.  Well after medicating and boiling pacifiers for a week things were better but still pretty painful on the left side so I had to get more meds.  Finally starting to be able to nurse without crying.

Raves:  I absolutely love how she smiles at me.  I also love that she let me sleep for 7 hours last night!

How’s recovery?:  better than I expected for a c-section!  Besides getting re admitted right after we were discharged  everything else went great!

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far?

I love watching her grow and develop and discover new things.

  • Baby Name: Franklin

    Age: 6 weeks

Rants: My 3 year old is really tough lately. Among other things, he gets as close as he can to baby's face and screams at the top of his lungs.  He's just a tough little boy to spend all day, every day with. I remember when my middle child was born and people would ask how it was to have two, I would think, "well, the babys a piece of cake - it's Eddie that's making this tough!!" And now I think, "I can handle my newborn and 20 month old, it's Eddie that's making this tough!" (Not to downplay anyone here struggling with a newborn - all of our babies and situations are different and some newborns are SO tough).

Raves: my husband is awesome. He does things differently than I would sometimes, but he hits it out of the park as a dad. I hardly have to lift a finger with the older two from the time he gets home from work til they go to bed. (In return, he doesn't lift a finger in the kitchen and has only changed one baby diaper so far! Haha.) I'm very thankful to have a great partner.

Recovery: As far as everything related to my delivery, I felt back to normal by day 5. All thanks to the unmedicated waterbirth - I had a REALLY tough recovery with my first, so I know it can be awful. I still have to take Miralax every day to prevent that tear from reopening with a BM, 3.5 years later... I am still bleeding the slightest bit (a pantiliner a day) which is annoying. Annnnd I'm fat. 42 pounds above my ideal weight and sick of it.

GTKY: my favorite parenting things are different at every age. My 3 year old tells me at least once a day, "Mom, I love you. I'm so glad you're in my family."  When my 20 month old sees me coming, he shouts "Mommy!!!!!" like he's never been more excited about anything. And he gives great snuggles. With baby, I love the snuggles. And the super sweet smiles.

  • A couple days late, but I'm still here! Finding time to do anything with a cranky baby is hard! He was up for 7 hours straight yesterday during the day with maybe one 20 minute nap!!

    Baby Name(s): Wyatt

Rants: I wish my husband was more present while at home. He's usually on his phone, or in the bathroom (men!), or just not paying attention! The other day I asked him to hike the baby, and you know, bond!? And I ended up holding LO until he fell asleep and then my husband got mad that all I wanted to do was pump and go to bed... He wasn't making any moves and our "cuddling" is still strictly in his favor (hopefully until tomorrow when I see the doctor) so sorry I wasn't jumping at it...

Raves: my little guy is starting to smile and it MELTS MY HEART!!! He is finding his hands and when he's holding my finger he tries to put it in his mouth. Everything he does amazes me!

How’s recovery?: I STILL have some stitches, and they rub and are uncomfortable! I see my doctor tomorrow for my postpartum appointment and I'm excited to get them out! I have to discuss Birthcontrol which I'm not looking forward to....

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent so far?

Hands down favorite thing is baby snuggles! If he falls asleep on me, I let him just stay snuggled in!! ❤️ I'm also enjoying AWing and showing him off! Like "I made dis!"
