I just realized, having a good cry over TTC this afternoon, that I'm the very thing we're all hoping for. My mother had a son a couple years before me, but he died the day he was born. Most days I don't feel very hopeful about having my rainbow, is the honest truth, but today I do.
I hope you all have such moments of clarity and I would love to hear about them here.

Thank you so much for this. Really needed the positivity right now. I learned Saturday when I told me 3 best friends what happened that they are actually all rainbow babies as well. The best people i know are proof that things can get better.
That's a really nice way of looking at it and I think I will try to focus more on these kinds of stories.
My sister and I both are, as well - our mom lost one right before each of us, and I know the one before me was a loss at 5 or 6 months. My niece is a rainbow baby, too, and she is a really funny toddler now.
I'm always amazed at how common this is and what a huge sense of community there is out there.
My mom never had a miscarriage but she went through IVF 4 times and I was the only one that "stuck". I always felt sad being an only child when I was younger but now that I'm older I understand how much she fought to have me and how lucky she (and me) is that I am here. She didn't give up on being a mother and neither will I.
My younger brother is a rainbow baby! After me, my parents lost their second baby at 14 weeks. They were terrified but determined to give me a sibling. Soon enough they went on to have my brother who has and continues to be perfectly healthy. And running laps around me in the fertility department, might I add
My mom has been a fantastic support for me as a result. She's been there and gets it. But I do think we handled our losses very differently. She's so much stronger than me.

I can't believe I never thought of this @reneeannemm, I'm a rainbow baby too. So eye opening. My mom delivered a baby at 24 weeks that died soon after birth, then had my sister and 6 years later after 6 miscarriages she had me. What a hopeful end to my day. Thank you!
What a great idea for a thread! I don't think there are any rainbow babies in my family...not a lot of babies at all actually. I have 3 aunts and uncles and only one had a baby. But it is really inspiring to hear these stories!
One of my nephews/nieces is a rainbow baby - though I don't know where in the sequence the miscarriage happened. And my other SIL has said that she gets pregnant easily but doesn't fare as well during pregnancy. I don't know if she's had any losses, her kids are closely spaced and the first is timed very soon after their marriage. But a part of me wonders what her struggles were - with the MC experience I think I'll ask the next time we're in the same room. It would be good to connect more to her.
One of my BIL is a rainbow baby - though again, not sure which one. My MIL has been lovely about the MC but has said some unhelpful things. Not hurtful and she was certainly coming from a good place - but not what I needed/wanted to hear at that point in time...
And I remember one of my childhood BFFs saying she had an older sister that was in heaven. I never understood it until my MC - she's a rainbow baby too.

I didn't think of them yesterday, because I just focused on my family, but two dear friends of mine had two and three miscarriages respectively at the same time(s) I have been experiencing my losses and one has a daughter who is turning 1 on April 1 and the other is due in August with her daughter. They both give me such hope and were so thoughtful in how they each shared the news with me when they were pg with their rainbows. It's possible!

What heartbreakingly beautiful stories Just reminds me how loss and IF are not new and not uncommon at all! My SIL had an MC between her first and second child. She also almost lost the second around 14 weeks, if I remember correctly, but the OB was able to help her and save my beautiful niece who will be six this may It's good to remember how everyone has their own struggles, but can still have a happy ending!
I'm new to gifs, but I have a huge arsenal of memes!
Wish I could make human babies like I make plant babies!
There's a gazillion of them!! Married to for 3yrs w/5 furbabies
Thank you all for sharing these stories. My mother had my sister and I with no MC, so it's great to hear the encouraging stories about all the wonderful rainbow babies!!!

My DH is a rainbow baby. DH's mother had been TTC for 5 years with 3 losses before finally having DH (her first take-home baby). Sometimes on days when I'm feeling really hopeless I think about that. I know after 3 or 4 years I'd be ready to give up on it ever happening. But if she had given up I wouldn't be married to my wonderful DH now.

I'm so glad this sparked so much conversation. It really feels so heartening when one can connect and share positive emotions and stories with others.

When I had my miscarriage she told me she believed she had an early miscarriage (a chemical pregnancy) between my older brother and me. She says she never turned a test though because they weren't nearly as accurate 30 years ago and couldn't be taking as readily.
My Mom's mom had a miscarriage between my aunt and my mom (and her brother since they're twins). So my mom and uncle are both rainbow babies.
